In Zorro The Chronicles, you could reenact most of the scenes that aired on its original animation. Players can either choose to face the enemies up front or choose the quieter option to avoid any combat. The signature action of marking the opponents with the Z mark is also possible. Although the basic structure of the game is great, there seems to be too much bugs and the kid friendly auto-interactions disturb the overall experience. The details of Zorro throwing a smoke grenade when he depletes all of his health, and saying that he’ll definitely come back, is one of the key animations which creates the immersion all kids will appreciate.

6 / 10.0 - TurnTack
May 1, 2022

TurnTack is a puzzle platformer is a game that shows what improvements may be required in the upcoming future. The technical discrepancies will be kept in the corner of your eyes during gameplay. While it seems like the game may have needed more development time and thoughts to actually become more of a complete product. Instead of just focusing on the technical side of things, it should have had an all rounder puzzle theme to be more appreciated than what its currently become.

If you’re into difficult puzzle solving, this may be the game for you. Just beware that the level design is still kind of bland which makes the main puzzle elements too simple than it should look, thus making it difficult to provide the actual sense of achievement. The supposed story was never clearly reminded of, which keeps you thinking even without playing the game. The entire 4 hours of gameplay wasn’t the best representation of the game’s pricing and the only thing you could remember was being under the deep seas with underwater structures.

6 / 10.0 - Taito Milestones
Apr 14, 2022

Taito Milestones is a collection of arcade games selected from Arcade Archives, which includes some classics from the 1980’s Taito developed games. All games were ported perfectly and the best part is that the package is way more affordable than purchasing them individually. Due to the timeline of these old classic’s existence, the main audience of these games were aimed at gamers in their 40s. Although all games were great, it’s not the definitive top 10 of their 1st party developments. Since its purpose was only catered to Taito fans, it’s a well thought out movement to represent Taito branding with their calculated plans of optimal human resources put into the project. But in all honesty, these types of collections may even deny any future potential of expansion of their original IP.

60 / 100 - Crystar
Mar 6, 2022

There’s some plots to be thickened around every corner, but the overwhelming combat system may discourage some players from picking up their Switch. UI isn’t the most convenient and the map is designed to intentionally drag to force more play hours. Combat feels too frequent and the depth of skills and item upgrade design is too much for an average gamer to handle, compared to the minimal changes in the end result. The game’s main plot has a concept of fairy tales falling into despair which may have its own niche fanbase. When the ending fades into the quote ‘Thank you for playing’, I felt like I didn’t leave anything behind which meant that the story was solid enough. If you started to play this game once, I'd recommend playing it until you see the true ending at the very end. Thankfully, the game devs have at least provided a small convenience in allowing skipping the entire first half of the story for multiple playthroughs attempts.

Grow: Song of the Evertree is the definition of a chill and relaxing game. While it provides fun and enjoyment through puzzles and challenges, the visuals of the map design and technicalities may prove uncomfortable for some, especially when you have to do repetitive elements for the first 6 hours to actually see some variety in the game.

If you were satisfied with most of these ‘home training’ style games already, then this may not be a surprise to your collection. At the same time, there isn't much of a beginner guideline set in for those who really want to start working out, so it may not be the best choice to be their first fitness game. Still, the exercises are real and a decent lower body workout may be a good mix for those who were tired of the old typical fitness titles. If you’re at a rock and a hard place for when it comes to training at home, this could be that little ‘push’ that you needed to soldier on.

Creature in the well has creatively mixed the Pinball genre with hack-n-slashers. But due to the overall simplistic design, the creativity doesn’t quite last long until the end. For those who wanted to try out something fresh, other than traditional dungeon crawlers, it’s definitely worth trying it out.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina's origins have never been officially released in Korea. So the reality is that the game is really for those who are already familiar with the original story and characters, as this title won't justify the full arc of the plot. But still, the game is more like a reboot of the existing fighting game and those who aren't really into competitive fighting games can still enjoy all the single player contents within the game. As this is their first initiative in Korean localization, it provides hopes of streamlining the Type-Moon franchise to have a place in Korea.

This game is designed to use the Gyro controls of the Nintendo Switch. There are single and multiplayer modes as a choice but neither delivers any decent experiences due to the clunky controls of the Gyro. Rather than trying to beat the game, it’s better off to see cute and funny interactions with the loveable sea creatures that appear in the game.

The game allows the player to come up with creative alchemy combinations and explore the possibilities into new discoveries and problem solving. The immense amount of possible results may be the downside element of the game. The auto-save feature is a bit unreliable in critical situations. The UI isn’t quite user friendly due to the complex mechanism of the alchemy. If you’re going to try and complete every alchemy combination, bosses and sub-quests, it will roughly take around 7 hours to complete the game.

If you just judge by the graphics, it feels very outdated. But the idea of it all is pretty decent as it focuses on the geographical location of ‘Akihabara’ and the stories based around it. Although the entire run is roughly around 8 hours, so the hype dies down quite sooner than you think. Play through multiple side missions and try to unlock all the various endings to stretch that play time longer. There are several factors that may not be fulfilling, but if you’ve never been to Akihabara before, while it’s not the best time to physically travel the world, this digital version of Akihabara may ease your urge and your otaku spirit can rest with this game... for now.

60 / 100 - Family Trainer
May 12, 2021

You can’t really expect this game to give you full fitness advice or before and after results as the in-game messages don't really deliver much motivation since there is no monitoring of how much calories were burned from your exercise. It will still provide the full body workout experience regardless since you’re literally moving your entire body to play the game. Some of the control schemes force the player to be as accurate as possible to the examples given, otherwise some of the simple movements may not be as simple as it reads. At least it does provide some sense of fun and competition when two players get together and try to beat each other's scores.

If you’re into classic style games made with a pseudo RPG maker tool, you should give this game a whirl. There are plenty of jump scares with ghosts and monsters popping out of nowhere so you got to be prepared to be on the run at all times. All this while having to solve puzzle elements that get in your way. The same routes you run amok can randomly be altered by the poltergeist feature during gameplay, so memorizing some of the paths may not be the best answer. As you progress through the story, you may question the difficulty of the game since the ones chasing you can sometimes be more overpowered than you think.

Whether you’re a hardcore Falcom fan or a diehard follower of the ‘Trails’ series, this is the right time to get started with The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel Kai. This may be the JRPG which may convert you into a fan in no time. Since the full ‘Trails’ universe promises to become much greater as the story develops, this series will let you know what kind of world you’re getting yourself into. Packed with content and plots to uncover, alongside plenty of side quests to complete as well. Please beware that you’ll eventually notice several repeated character animations and even cringe worthy production value, so take care of your eyes and mind to have enough capacity to absorb them with a grain of salt as you play through.

Perhaps if they minimized some of the duplicate elements which happened in its prequel, this game could have served a more unique and solid content. You’ll discover a lot of information based around the Erebonian Empire, which is the primary setting of the Trails of Cold Steel series. As a fan of the Legend of Heroes universe, this iteration of the game serves as a checkpoint for you to join all the dots. There wasn’t much of a revamp in visuals and graphics since the prequel, but it will pack a punch when it comes to turning the tables and plot twists. As a JRPG fan, you won’t be dissapointed.

60 / 100 - Persona 5 Royal
Mar 4, 2020

It’s really difficult to find a game that has the best combat system, pool of characters, story plot, visuals and audio all in the right balance. This turn based JRPG is one of the textbooks of its own genre. But we are reviewing the expansion pack here, which happens to be the same full price as its original. This clearly is the only ‘thumbs down’ of this review.

Within the collection package, there are so many back stories and contents that if you’re a true fan of the series, they surely are all worth checking out. The most interactive feature would be the graphical enhancement of HD scaling which allows some of the older Samurai Shodown games to feel like you’re playing them at a higher resolution. This game may not be the best Samurai Showdown or at least the fighting game experience you’ll get if this was your first ever interaction of the genre. There are no elements that would teach you the game to get good at when played against other fighting game players. So it’s best to be purchased if you’re a fan of this classic title. Sadly, the game only provides localizations of the menus, thus you would require a little knowledge in the foreign language game to perfectly understand the story elements of the 7 Samurai Shodown games in this package.

Oct 20, 2020

If you’re a fan of the Ys series, this one’s a must have to get to know the past of the first initial game that started all this. There are many questionable elements which may serve as an obstacle for some of the modern gamers so you would have to be a true fan of the game as well as having the heart to play classic retro games to be able to endure most of them. At least with its affordable pricing, it’s not a bad game to play on the go.

Feb 11, 2020

Code Shifter is a simple action genre which has some cameo appearance from other ArcSystem Works characters. If you're not sure of the original source of the game, it will take some time to absord all the insider quotes. Prepare for some utter confusion if you play this without much preparation.
