Gaming Professors's Reviews

In truth, I probably had high expectations, as did most fans of the show. I was expecting maybe more action scenes, bigger maps or more sophistication and variety in mission completion. Unfortunately, Peaky Blinders: Mastermind didn't deliver anything I was looking forward to. So the only positives for me are the enjoyable play with time and being set in the world of Peaky Blinders. Honestly, if you want a quality RTS in a similar style, reach for Desperados 3 instead - you'll definitely get more fun.

It should be noted that in order to be able to finish the game at all and thus "besiege" the game crashing, I had to use the trainer and literally fly through the missions without passing the NPC's turn. I can understand if someone in a single player game uses cheats/trainer to have unlimited ammo, life and just go kill NPCs and that's how they react. After all, games are made mainly for relaxation and entertainment. However, if I have to use a trainer in order to finish the game at all (because otherwise the game crashes), then something is very wrong.

4 / 10.0 - Hello Neighbor
Jan 10, 2021

Before I bought the game, I watched the trailer. The developers really took care with the trailer, the truth is that not all that glitters is gold. I was very interested in the game, so I bought it. In the end, it was rather disappointing for me and I would have a hard time looking for positives. Eventually, however, one was found. One of them is graphic processing. This graphic is probably not for everyone, but I love the processing, which is reminiscent of animated films for children. Furthermore, I have to admit that at the moment when our nice neighbor was locking that cellar, I absolutely needed to find out what the lecher was hiding in that cellar. But I'm not sure that this particular plot would keep all the players playing.

4 / 10.0 - V-Rally 4
Dec 24, 2020

For 50 euros, this is a below-average title that is nowhere near the quality of its competitors. It offers average to below average graphics, a terrible driving model, unbalanced difficulty and a lot of frustration. Better reach for the Dirt series from Codemasters or WRC from the same studio as today's V-Rally 4. On the other hand, someone may be pleased with Split Screen, which does not compensate for the shortcomings of this game.

5 / 10.0 - Paradise Lost
Apr 29, 2021

The main factor of Paradise Lost is walking. The term "walking simulator" is now an established term in the video game world. These are adventure games based on gradual exploration and observation with a minimum amount of action. Therefore, this aspect should work a treat. But the speed that little Szymon is able to develop is severely inadequate, and his only function is an incredible level of frustration. I've played many similarly styled games focused solely on wandering around the map, but the walking factor has never been this limited anywhere. It saddens me that such good potential is devastated by such a trivial yet important factor. Paradise Lost can be purchased on Steam for €12,49 - in my opinion the price is inadequate, the title is full of flaws and the only thing that can be highlighted is the graphic design with a well captured gloomy atmosphere.

Personally, I think there's still a lot of room in the space opera genre for something we'll all fondly remember, like games like Mass Effect used to. Unfortunately, Starpoint Gemini 3 isn't quite what it seems. It's a nice simulation at times, but a bad RPG with a subpar story. And most of all, it's kind of empty. Strangely empty even for the vast universe.

Maybe the developers took too big a bite and it backfired. The overall elaboration of the facial expressions of the characters was not very successful. The characters look stiff and artificial. It's a shame because the first episode set the bar really high. Maybe that's why we expected something more. The story is also not very interesting and engaging. If we didn't compare the game to number one, it would be an average adventure game and the rating would probably be a little higher. Let's see how the developers fight with the last part. Due to the end of this part, we can already assume what will happen in the big finale of the trilogy. However, The Uncertain: Light At The End is still a good title despite all that.

Eximius: Seize the Frontline is a rather hilarious hybrid of FPS/RTS genres that could be a great and very entertaining title. However, the game is reliant on other players, which unfortunately there aren't many of, as virtually no one plays the game. You may find yourself "spinning" around with a bunch of people over and over again.

Despite being a mobile port, Dakka Squadron is a fun game that has its flaws. Graphically, there's nothing to fault, but technically it's worse. The game's controls take some getting used to, but the camera in particular will still annoy the hell out of you. I honestly can't imagine how Dakka Squadron must be played on phones. Before you decide to buy this piece, I recommend you play the demo first. You can get Dakka Squadron on Steam for €16.79, and on mobile for $4.99.

6 / 10.0 - The Almost Gone
Apr 2, 2021

The Almost Gone offers you a complex family plot, which unfortunately you cannot explore in more depth. However, the miniature dioramas are very appealing and the whole aesthetic will make the gameplay experience more enjoyable. The puzzles are short, simple and definitely won't make you sweat. I would recommend the title to beginners who are just about to enter the world of puzzle games, given its low difficulty. For less than three hours of fun, the price of this one-shot is €9.99.

6 / 10.0 - Iron Harvest
Feb 22, 2021

Iron Harvest had the potential to become a very good and original competition for Company of Heroes 2. The game paid the most for its poorly finished start, when nice graphics and original units didn't help it either. Now it is more suitable for players who prefer singleplayer or skirmishes against not very intelligent AI. However, I still recommend that you think carefully about whether this will suit you for the price of €50.

6 / 10.0 - DEVOUR
Feb 14, 2021

In conclusion, we can say that Devour is a game that will definitely not make it to the charts of the most successful games. However, it will definitely find its fans, and if it is properly taken care of by the developer, it has a chance to make its way into the better average of co-op horror films.

If you ignore the bad artificial intelligence of the police and actually the whole city, American Fugitive is quite a fun game, accompanied by a great musical background and its art graphics processing is great. The developers tried to create a game inspired by the good old classics and they succeeded to some extent. You can buy the game on Steam for €19.99.

With a different developer, Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain brings a lot of new elements to the series that can revive or break a certain nostalgia and familiar style of its veteran fans. Still, it's still a fun EDF-esque game and a great way for newbies to get their first taste of Earth Defense Force.

Postal 4 isn't a bad game for having a relatively small team working on it and getting most of its resources from fans who buy the game in Early Access. Strong humor, the ability to unleash violence on almost anyone, stylish graphics with the glitter of Unreal Engine, great dubbing of the main character, all this can be a reason to play the game. However, the experience is spoiled both by the poor artificial intelligence of non-playable characters and by the fact that, compared to Postal 2, there is basically no new revolutionary idea that would push the gameplay to a new level. But maybe the fans don't even want it.

7 / 10.0 - Hobo: Tough Life
May 1, 2021

Hobo: Tough Life is a very interesting title that gives us a glimpse into the real life of homeless people. We have to emphasize the idea of the game itself, which is different from most other survival games. Aspects such as begging and searching through garbage cans are handled very well here, and the authentic environment of Czech cities and fun multiplayer adds the icing on the cake. Unfortunately, this is all a little bit killed by a bunch of bugs, mediocre graphics and in some ways high difficulty, which may discourage some players.

7 / 10.0 - Biped
Apr 29, 2021

If you own a game controller and want to relax for a while, either alone or with a friend, Biped will keep you entertained. The individual tasks are fun and the levels are nicely crafted. And if you're not a fan of controllers, you can even conquer the game with the mouse.

The Dark Eye: Memoria is practically based on its predecessor, which it certainly does not disgrace. The game beautifully complements the overall story and elegantly concludes it. It's a shame, however, that the game is accompanied by the same mischief as its predecessor. The characters come across as austere and stiff, with no distinctive feel. This fact is all the more accentuated by the failed dubbing, which unfortunately detracts from the overall enjoyment of the atmosphere and enjoyment of an otherwise good game.

Clone Drone in the Danger Zone is a good game that can keep you entertained for hours. For a game that is in Early Access, it will offer you a lot of fun. The simple graphics add the right amount of charm to the title and the electro music that plays during the fights can get you pumped up. The game can be purchased on Steam for €16.79.

The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav is undoubtedly a classic in the point-and-click adventure game genre. However, it is clear that this is a game that is more than eight years old at its core and has not undergone any major technical changes. The story is slightly predictable at some stages and the overall impression and enjoyment of the gameplay is spoiled by the setting, or rather the animation of the characters and their dubbing. Although I am a proponent of dubbing in games, especially story-based ones, here I would even prefer if there was no dubbing and the conversations were only within the text.
