Carrion is a body horror masterpiece
Creaks is a delight from start to finish
M2 provides the necessary context to enjoy the experience without changing the actual game.
Mind Control Delete is a fascinating remix of the concepts that made the first two games so influential.
I want to share it with my nieces and nephews, as well as my grown friends. But I hesitate due to the frustration of the combat and those imposing boss battles — those moments where I wish I had someone else to take over on the controller.
Ghost of Tsushima offers a lovely world to explore, and there’s value in that, but it should have been so much more than a checklist of activities to accomplish.
I'm going to tell you something that I can't easily explain: When I advance the quest, I'm having fun. I barely know why, in the same way that it's difficult to explain why paying off a mortgage in Animal Crossing is fun.
Valorant may still be more promise than reality in some ways, but what already exists is strong enough to bring in players and keep them there while Riot refines the experience. Valorant, as of this writing, is at a fantastic starting point, and there’s every reason to believe it’s only going to get better from here.
Everything you do in Hardspace: Shipbreaker is mediated by the forces of debt and capital. You own nothing; not your equipment, not your salvage, not even your own life. Salvaging sessions are divided into 15-minute shifts, and you must get the work done as quickly as possible to maximize profit. You return to your private quarters — leased from LYNX, of course — between jobs, and it's there that you're charged a rental fee for the use of your tools and salvage bay.
If you’re excited to play Persona 4 Golden again, or curious to dive for the first time, the game is still as excellent as it was when it was first released 8 years ago, just finally more convenient.
The Last of Us Part 2 delivers these moments of emotional whiplash over and over again.
This is a respectful but surprisingly full-featured dive back into the world of Command and Conquer, and I can only hope EA greenlights this sort of treatment for more of its games.
This simple package, with an unassuming title and cover, is already one of my favorite games of the year. Nintendo may have released the perfect game at the perfect time with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and it looks like the company may be able to repeat the same trick when Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics.
Microsoft and Mojang have created a game where you’re hitting endless minions and boss characters with all sorts of pointy weapons, but they did so in such a way that playing still feels creative, and freeing. That’s a very welcome magic trick from a series trying something this new, this confidently.
All in all, life in the waters is good these days. I swim with the grace of a dolphin and the speed of a cheetah. However, when it comes to attacking fish and humans and itty-bitty baby seals, I will confess I am quite clumsy.
This takes place in the span of maybe 10 minutes, and it's emblematic of the stunning, baffling, audacious amount of variety in Saints Row: The Third Remastered.
An already near-perfect game has been made slightly better due to the hardware it’s on, making this the definitive version of the game.

It’s refreshing and meaningful to see a complex story in which all pieces of the characters’ lives are considered, each part of a much larger story of a life, and the fantasy that such a life might also produce. There are painful, real moments in If Found…, but the game also revels in the support of friendship and family, too.
With its smart, engrossing franchise mode bringing it home, Super Mega Baseball 3 is another fantastic entry in what has become one of my all-time favorite sports series.
