Simply put, Survios has done it again. Electronauts is not only one of the most enjoyable music games I've ever played, but it serves as a stark reminder of why Survios are some of the very best in the business.
Yet the gameplay and plot never lived up to its potential, and my expectations slowly lowered themselves into a shallow grave as the gameplay, initially full of potential, let me down through repetitive gameplay and a cliché plot.
Those who worked on the pixel art, on the aesthetics, or on the music, hats off to you. You did great work. I wish the game I played was of the same caliber.
I thought the emotional arc of Austin's story was fantastic, both narratively satisfying and visually stunning, and I personally look forward to playing the next chapter.
Overall, H1Z1 may be a pioneer of the Battle Royale craze, but in the games current form, it just cannot stack up against PUBG and Fortnite due to its lack of focus, polish, and overall content
Overcooked 2 takes everything you know and love about the first game and kicks it up a notch to make a more satisfying and plentiful sequel.
It's hard to criticize a game that offers so much originality, humor and satirical atmosphere. We Happy Few, unfortunately, lets its narrative and characters get bogged down in a desperate and, at times, tedious struggle to survive the game's brutal environment.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole's DLC Bring the Crunch had the potential to be a great story and truly fun addition to an already exemplary game. It's short length, lack of content, and unnecessary boss battles to pad the run time of an already short experience feel weak compared to the insane and wild content of the base game itself.
Pick up State of Mind if you want to experience the reconstruction of memories in two realities. Avoid it if you want something more fast-paced.
In "Done Running," Telltale gives us the Walking Dead game we fell in love with back in Season One, but with noticeable upgrades in gameplay and visuals.
If you don't mind playing for short periods every day I recommend giving this game a shot. Big Moustache Games does deserve to reap the rewards of the game they've crafted.
Flipping Death is a humor-laden puzzle platformer full of heart that I couldn't stop playing.
If you are already a fan of the Touhou series, this might certainly be the game for you. However, fans of the bullet hell genre may want to skip on this title and players wanting to get into this franchise may want to look elsewhere as this is not a good starting point for newcomers.
Okami is like a clock without hands: timeless.
The Nintendo Switch is becoming a treasure trove of excellent indie games and Iconoclasts is a jewel that shines as bright as some of the absolute best. Like some of the best RPGs with deep character development, this is the type of game that will sit with you for days and weeks after you've finished it.
All these negatives add up to a real downer experience in which that should have left us soaring.
When you boil it down, Unavowed takes the tried and true formula of the Point-and-Click game and uses it as a stage to talk about humanity.
The folks at Ska Studios have crafted something stellar here, though. Despite how much the Souls series has inspired this title, it still stands on its own two feet without feeling derivative.
For all its flaws, Monster Hunter: World is proof that a game can be more than the sum of its parts.
If you're looking for a challenging diversion, Enlightenment could be the absorbing game you need. If you're looking for something more relaxing or polished, you're more likely to encounter horror than wonder in the Ark.
