Overlord: Fellowship of Evil is disappointing in a time when no game can afford to even be mediocre. Fans of the original games may be tempted to give it a chance, but I implore you to avoid this game at all costs. There is nothing redeeming about this title. It is a shadow of its former self, and not even a good rip-off of the genres it is trying to imitate. This is one Overlord whose rule deserves to be revoked.

3 / 10.0 - Oblitus
Mar 3, 2015

Every time I just started to enjoy some aspects, others smacked me back down. I can see players being pulled in by its mysterious charm, but unless you're a glutton for punishment with little inspiration to move forward or rewards, I don't see folks getting much enjoyment out of this. It downright feels unfinished at times.

Fans of Kevin Smith's work will be just as disappointed as adventure game fans, and players in general will do well to avoid this one.

The idea of a FPS rogue game where you earn new abilities as you try and make your way to the top sounds ever so promising, but with all the issues I had with it, I've already bailed out.

I wouldn’t even tell fans of the show to play it.

3.5 / 10.0 - FORECLOSED
Sep 14, 2021

Foreclosed feels like its on a swinging pendulum where the extremes are “Frustrating” and “Mediocre” and it constantly swings in these directions within minutes of each play session. It’s all style and no substance, unfortunately. If the aiming was so haphazardly programmed and maybe an extra animation or two to make it feel like I wasn’t shooting the same person over and over, or maybe if the cover in the cover-based shooter would actually work, then maybe I could give it a pass, but the way Foreclosed is currently, I would say pass on this one. Even at deep discount, you’re just going to end up frustrated or bored.

3.5 / 10.0 - WWE 2K20

Even if you’re a huge WWE fan you shouldn’t play it. 2K should take a year off, scrap this engine, and start over from scratch.

3.5 / 10.0 - WRC 8
Oct 23, 2019

On the surface WRC 8 would look like a game made for rally fans, but it misses the mark by miles and with there being so many other fantastic rally and racing games already out there to choose from, I can only recommend that you go looking elsewhere.

3.5 / 10.0 - Nippon Marathon
Jan 8, 2019

Nippon Marathon in theory is a good idea, but when it came to actually playing the game I did not enjoy myself and I really wanted to. Maybe there’s fun to be had if played with friends but I was so put off myself that I wouldn’t force any friends to play it.

3.5 / 10.0 - Randall
Jun 29, 2017

Overall I was left feeling empty whilst playing Randall. A game that tried very hard to shine with its varying gameplay styles, but ends up failing on all fronts; and totally messes up the platforming elements, making it frustrating to play.

I turned the game off with a One Way Trip to the delete key. I appreciate what they were going for here, but it wasn’t for me in the slightest.

The Tomorrow Children gave me no real incentive to continue playing it. With no end game and very slow mechanics due to the game's reliance on microtransactions it feels like nothing more than a cash grab

3.5 / 10.0 - Alekhine's Gun
Mar 9, 2016

Given another year or two this might have turned out to be a solid Hitman alternative, but as it stands Alekhine's Gun fails on every level – poor AI, abysmal frame rate, sub-par visuals, and horrendous shooting. There is nothing here to salvage the premium price tag.

Giana Sisters: Dream Runners is not a good game. There are many missteps in the mechanics and the overall feel of the game. Playing with bots solo is boring and not fun, and even with people to play with either online or locally, you may get an hour's worth of play out of it before looking for something better to play and there are way more games out there that play better than this.

3.5 / 10.0 - I Am Bread
Sep 7, 2015

I Am Bread seems to have been developed for crazy people, or for those that hate themselves. Sure, there is a challenge to be found here, but the rewards don't justify the means. It simply doesn't compare to its peers. It has none of Octodad's humour and none of Surgeon Simulator's irony. It's just a joke that seems to have gone stale.

3.5 / 10.0 - NBA Live 14
Dec 19, 2013

NBA Live 14 is a hot mess. There is simply no other way to describe it. I wanted to derive some enjoyment from the game, hell I was a fan of NBA Inside Drive back in the days of the original Xbox, but this is simply broken on so many levels.

4 / 10.0 - Slave Zero X
Mar 18, 2024

I said this on the podcast, Slave Zero X is a weird game. On the surface it appears to have little to do with the original, but the story does reveal some threads The bad thing is the combat and levels just feel so frustrating and difficult that most players will never even get to see any of it. This game didn’t make me feel like a “killing machine” with its clunky combat and constant difficulty spikes. I don’t know who this one is for, I just know it isn’t me.

4 / 10.0 - PAYDAY 3
Oct 17, 2023

To make matters worse the game didn’t work for like a week after its launch due to its reliance on an always online model. Server issues plagued users on all systems, some people weren’t able to redeem their items that they had paid extra for, it was just a mess. Oddly enough, I was able to play before launch which means I didn’t get to play with real people as I gave up trying to play the game after day 3 of it not working. While I never was able to compete a heist that didn’t devolve into a shootout, I am sure there will be those pros that can. As I type this the servers are still working and Starbreeze is reporting millions of players; and I wish them well but I am gonna take my cut and get off here. Hopefully next time their game is functional at launch.

Crime Boss Rockay City deserved better, from the inexcusable number of bugs and glitches that players will come across while played the games narrative or the multiplayer missions to the just laughable performances of some actors who I used to hold in such high regard. In a different timeline this game would have just leaned 100% into the jank and made this a successful parody. But instead, it falls flat by trying to tell a serious story about an ambitious crime boss who wanted more, a story as old as time and one that’s been told a million times better before.
