Death end re; Quest is a game that reinvents its genre with metalanguage and the mix between different types of games. Without any serious performance problem, it has an immersive and immersive history, being a good option for those who want to escape the traditionalism of RPGs or even for those who like technology in general.

8 / 10.0 - Graviter
Jul 5, 2021

As a whole, Graviter is a great choice for puzzle fans. Rich in possibilities and with a very attractive aesthetic in the combination of backgrounds and effects, it is certainly a good experience for those who just want to spend quality time between an adventure in the Mushroom Kingdom or a walk around Hyrule. With fair challenges, we have a game that certainly calls attention to the utmost care, especially regarding the functional physics and satisfactory trajectories to watch when reaching the objective of each map.

Musou fans will surely enjoy all the features Samurai Warriors 5 offers, and new players will have no problem following the story. The gameplay is very fluid, the audiovisual presentation is dazzling and the story doesn't leave any loose ends, besides being a treat for history lovers. Unfortunately, the negative points, especially the camera control, harm the gameplay. It's up to the player to decide whether or not it's worth venturing into the Sengoku period, especially because Samurai Warriors 5 doesn't present anything new compared to other musou games.

Agatha Christie — Hercule Poirot: The First Cases brings an original story, but it's a worthy homage to the Queen of Crime. With a gameplay and plot that are both interesting and compelling employing logical reasoning, it's hard not to feel yourself in the actual role of a young, but eccentric detective Hercule Poirot, whose method to solve crimes is explored faithfully. Maybe it'll be better appreciated by the fans of Agatha Christie, who are already used to her narrative style, but it can be enjoyed by all police novel fans.

While it's not entirely an experience of the series it's based on, Record of Lodoss War -Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth- offers all the features a metroidvania fan could want, without feeling like "just another clone" of Metroid or Castlevania. Team Ladybug was able to transpose RPG elements, the root of Lodoss War, to a simple and fair, but totally satisfying action platformer, which pleases both the longing fans of the series and gamers looking for casual gameplay.

8 / 10.0 - Blackberry Honey
Feb 23, 2022

Blackberry Honey brings a cliché romance, although daring because it is a relationship between two women, with a great focus on the period contextualization. ebi-hime did a great job of bringing Victorian England from the 19th century to our present times, and the importance of including the customs of this period is notorious, making the story offer something more than a love story that, in fact, could take place in the 21st century. Despite its minor flaws in the hybrid console, it remains a great choice for anyone who likes visual novels or simply appreciates a good romance.

COGEN: Sword of Rewind isn't a platformer for casual players, but it definitely has an excellent appeal to those who love feeling challenged every second. The story, while simple, is appealing and curious, and the gameplay is solid enough to make every stressful moment during Kohaku's campaign worth it, with a special mention to the beautiful audiovisual presentation. The replayability due to the achievements is excellent for people who enjoy challenges, and old school players will definitely feel the pain and pleasure from a game that joins the ranks of great sadic games, along with immortal classics such as The Prince of Persia and The Lion King.

8 / 10.0 - Crystar
Mar 26, 2022

Crystar is an action RPG that gives up precisely the action part to focus on the story, an element that, by itself, already compensates for the battle simplicity. Its audiovisual presentation also leaves nothing to be desired and captures very well the sensations and feelings transmitted throughout the plot. The game may not please fans of RPGs with more elaborate systems, but those who like more complex themes certainly can't let this opportunity slip away.

Yurukill: The Calumniation Games is an excellent pick for shoot'em up fans, and even more for succeeding at mixing the genre with others, such as visual novel for the adventure bits and escape-the-room for various puzzles and riddles. Everything fits perfectly with the story and the atmosphere, including the art and soundtrack, which are well made, not to mention the presence of big names of the Japanese dub that enact the eccentric characters. Unfortunately the performance on Switch hinders a lot of the game potential and many issues in the hybrid console port compromise the experience. As such, if possible, the PC or PlayStation versions may be better unless portability is a decisive factor in the choice.

8 / 10.0 - ORD.
Jan 6, 2023

With its minimalist proposal, Ord. manages to establish its existence in the Switch library as a relaxed, thought-provoking game and, above all, aimed at the unpretentious and casual pastime. Despite some small flaws, if tried in homeopathic doses, this textual adventure is more than recommended for those moments when we lack something to do.

Though it has some very specific issues, Shieldmaiden: Remix Edition adds a quality short adventure to Switch's library, with a big highlight to it being a 100% Brazilian product. With interesting mechanics, big inspiration on classic 16-bit platformers and irreproachable audiovisual presentation, this one is a good choice for indie titles enthusiasts.

8 / 10.0 - Jack Jeanne
Jun 1, 2023

"Jack Jeanne brings a simple and relatively cliche story, but it'll definitely please the fans of theatrical productions. Unfortunately, though it tries to reinvent the visual novel genre, the game is way too focused on the simulation and rhythmic elements, leaving the narrative aspect to the sidelines, something that, in my opinion, made the gameplay dull over time. Overall, the newest BROCCOLI port in the west is entertaining and handles the audiovisual presentation well with a remarkable dub and soundtrack and polished art signed by Sui Ishida, but, when weighing the pros and cons, I did not feel I was playing a visual novel.

8 / 10.0 - Cassette Beasts
Jun 10, 2023

Cassette Beasts, in essence, extends the mechanics of Nintendo's IP and gives the player a wide range of customization combined with the open world concept that many games currently offer. While the audio-visual presentation might not appeal to everyone, this RPG captivates with its well-executed story and diverse elements that evoke nostalgia for the 1980s and 1990s. It's true that the Switch port deserved more polish in technical aspects, but Cassette Beasts doesn't disappoint when expanding on the mechanics introduced by Pokémon. Certainly, the game is a hit for those who like collecting and lots of fun and cute little creatures.

8 / 10.0 - With Eyes of Ice
Jul 11, 2023

With Eyes of Ice, though not exactly an otome visual novel, is an excellent narrative by ebi-hime, who did not shy away from exploring scenery and habits different from those the author is used to write. Even though Iceland's Nordic culture (especially the names) may cause some non-European players to raise their brows, the plot is solid enough to keep your interest from start to finish, especially thanks to an excellent audiovisual presentation and characterization.

Agatha Christie - Murder on the Orient Express [...] faithfully follows the book it's based and, at the same time, alters— in a very natural way, it's worth pointing out — some elements to make it an adventure worthy of being a XXI century mystery. Besides, the addition of a new character to dive into a case that, in the book, is only mentioned briefly, is a great gift for the fans of the Queen of Crime, not to mention the brand new mystery centered on Joanna Locke herself that is a postgame campaign.

Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate - Definitive Edition is a competent visual novel that mixes various gameplay elements to deliver an intriguing and immersive narrative focused on time manipulation. Even though some elements, like the wonky controls and a few visual bugs, may be a small headache in certain moments, they are easily compensated by the excellent narrative the adventure offers, making it hard to stop [playing].

7.5 / 10.0 - Moero Crystal H
Sep 23, 2020

Because it contains visual appeal and highly suggestive content, Moero Crystal H is a title that sells itself through the fanservice and lives up to that, especially in mini-games, but does not give up the RPG genre to prioritize the notorious trope tits and butt (and, of course, underwear). Even though it is colorful and captivating, it is still a niche game, due to the subgenre dungeon crawler that may not please everyone, and aimed at a male target audience. Thus, I am proof that, if well designed and built, the fanservice can both amuse and attract women.

BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites gives the player the painful and pleasurable experiences that classics like Castlevania, The Prince of Persia and The Lion King still guarantee today. The frenetic action got even better with the audiovisual improvements — although the art style might not suit everyone — but the game remains an excellent example of take it or leave it, such is its difficulty. Fans of gratuitous violence can certainly feel the appeal of BloodRayne, but only platformer lovers of the 80s and 90s will be able to take full advantage of the dhampir adventure.

7.5 / 10.0 - Kinduo
May 10, 2022

Given its structure, Kinduo is a game designed for two, but also extremely enjoyable for a single player. Even with few stages, both visual and logical variety pays off for those who like well-crafted puzzles, but that don't border on the impossible. In short, the adventure of Bolt and Rocky is a platformer that is worth exercising logic in a simple, effective and accessible way for all ages.
