I had no idea what to expect jumping into Until You Fall, but I ended up getting a nice series of workouts on top of a pretty thrilling VR combat simulator. If you're looking for the next thing to buy with your shiny new VR device, this is it.

Until You Fall will challenge your will to fight, kill you ruthlessly, and bring you back to do it all over again. It's an incredibly beautiful, satisfying roguelite with a killer soundtrack and addicting hack-and-slash gameplay.

Until You Fall has all the cornerstones of a great VR game. It combines excellent gameplay with smart physics systems on top of a killer video game soundtrack. There isn't really a story to Until You Fall other than "kill everything in your path," but that is perfectly fine. Without a storyline, players instead get to focus on and become engrossed in one of the strongest VR games available on any platform.

Fast, fluid and fun. Until You Fall came out of nowhere and blew me away. The combat system is so moreish and addictive, rewarding and well designed you will not want it to stop. While the story is lacking and the enemies can get repetative, everything else more than makes up for it. Great VR implementation, amazing music and super-fast load times create a really enjoyable VR experience and one of my favourites this year.

Schell Games have forged a winner. The swordplay gameplay feels real and the physics make for a challenging and fairly physically demanding game too. Add in the power-ups and abilities that can be added to each weapon and there is a play style available to suit every player’s needs.

Until You Fall is a roguelike brawler by Schell Games. The game has vibrant environments, a high-energy soundtrack, and is challenging. While the combination of these elements keeps you coming back for more, is it enough for the long-term?

Until You Fall delivers on its promise and makes you feel like a dual-wielding VR champion. It’s the perfect fit for a virtual reality arcade experience if you want to go for a few quick runs, but eventually, the repetitive nature of the genre will catch up.

Bottom line, Until You Fall offers a very solid VR experience for its price, offering a lot of variability and replayability even with the limited maps. The only blemish is the lack of additional campaigns, which we would expect to see in a game hundreds of crowns more expensive. It took me a while to get into some of the mechanics, but in the end I was hooked enough that I can recommend it to you and give it a high rating.

Until You Fall is simple but fun. It’s not going to win any awards but it’s certainly going to get you moving and feeling a bit awesome for a while. It does get a bit repetitive, so it’s not going to grab you for long periods at a time, but the sword fighting is enjoyable enough to make you want to come back for more. The worlds are pretty, if a little lacking in substance, and the structured and limited level design is something that holds the game back a little. Basically, if you’re in the mood to swing a couple of virtual melee weapons at big baddies, and who isn’t, then you’ll really enjoy Until You Fall.

Until You Fall is a great example of a well done VR game. Strong idea that uses the strengths of VR to their fullest, realized systems with depth and variety, and a satisfying gameplay loop that brings it all together. Even with some drawbacks, it’s still now one of my favorites to play. A quick 30 minute session is so satisfying, both in-game and physically. Because, damn, if this game doesn’t wear your arms out after serious play.

While the game did not tread any new grounds it was solid distraction and it was fun slicing and dicing my way through the enemy hordes.
