So is Dying Light 2 Stay Human a successful sequel to the 2015 hit? Rather, yes, because despite some shortcomings, the game provides excellent fun for tens or even hundreds of hours. For fans of the first installment, this is absolutely a must-see, but unfortunately, players who bounced back from Dying Light earlier are unlikely to receive too many arguments to change their attitude to the brand.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human is an excellent sequel that was maybe just a bit too ambitious for its own good in the end. Despite that, it still can offer complex and fun gameplay.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human has a compelling core gameplay loop, as well as a great day and night system that makes it a fun game to play. While the story could be better, and even with the bugs in the current build of the game, it's still overall well worth checking out.

We played Dying Light 2: Stay Human on an Xbox Series X and it’s a gorgeous-looking game and does offer a few graphical options from the menu. Three to be exact: “Performance”, “Quality” and “Resolution”. Performance mode runs at 1080p while offering a smooth 60fps, the Quality mode offers 1080p but adds ray-traced lighting support, while Resolution is all about hitting 4K, with both Quality and Resolution aiming for 30fps. With a game like Dying Light, I personally found the game and parkour more enjoyable to play running at a smooth 60fps, as long as you don’t mind the visuals taking a bit of a hit.

I'm having a blast playing Dying Light 2 and could easily see myself breaking the hundred hour mark, or more.

A underwhelming story but a massive, exciting sandbox of parkour and kinetic combat.

That might be a bit more difficult than teaching a zombie to fetch. There was a lot of trouble in the run-up, there was a lot of hype, and some of it was followed by disillusionment and, for some, almost disappointment. Yes, not everything went smoothly and we also noticed some things that I had to bring up here. It is also clear that some potential was wasted. Nevertheless, it's fair to say that Dying Light 2 is a really successful game overall, which is fun to play and entertains well at times. It's not a masterpiece, and it doesn't have to be. Just drop all the ballast of the pre-reviews, install the latest patch and dive into a successful zombie survival adventure.

Dying Light 2 is bigger, better and bolder than its predecessor and even if it's not exactly a looker on console, offers fifty hours of fun for both newcomers and fans of the first game. It's not perfect by any means, but we cannot avoid recommending it.

Techland’s game Dying Light 2 provides an entertaining and satisfying continuation. While the game has its flaws in some areas such as the story, it shouldn't hold you back from checking out the game itself and its multiplayer.

'Dying Light 2: Stay Human' shows excellent action and fun, but incomplete narratives and disappointing completeness reduce the value of the game. In particular, the narrative part is too different between the good and bad in the beginning and the second half.

A good action game full of content and potential, but it would benefit from a vigorous technical smoothing.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is a good action game with lots of content and a lot of potential, but various technical inaccuracies and unconvincing AI indicate that another polishing period would have been useful. Hopefully the Polish magic will repeat itself once again.

Dying Light 2 offers everything fans wanted: a bigger world, more and better characters, new modes and locations for exploration, among a multitude of content. Although with some questionable design decisions, it presents an even more immersive story than its predecessor, with a slow start, but a climax worthy of the term.

Dying Light 2 is messy and uneven. It’s also unique, exhilarating, and just plain fun to play, with one of the best settings in recent memory – despite the nagging feeling that the game could, and should, be more than what it is.

While Dying Light 2 may not feel like a massive step up, it's still tons of fun, and the story is a powerful and engaging one, vastly improved from the original.

Initially, I was concerned Dying Light 2 wouldn't find its own voice in a world crammed with shallow open worlds designed for busy work rather than fun, but the more I played, the more I found that wasn't the case. Dying Light 2 truly shines with its high-stakes nighttime gameplay, which turns the modern and tired open-world formula on its head. While some of the writing isn't the best and next-gen console performance is a bit disappointing, Dying Light 2 offers a tight experience that builds on the original.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is another exhilarating parkour and zombie-pummeling playground from Techland, although at times, the seams holding it all together are a bit obvious. Given the game's glitches, minor gameplay annoyances, and crudely bisected story and world, reports of behind-the-scenes issues feel all-too-plausible. That said, the foundation here is rock solid, and Techland has proven they're capable long-term builders, so I'm confident Dying Light 2's embers can be stoked to a full flame in time.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human is more than a sequel — it’s an evolution that keeps everything that is integral to the franchise intact, but builds on it with enough engaging content that it’s incredibly hard to stop playing.

After six years of waiting and promising, the final version of Dying Light: Stay Human unfortunately does not look like what we had seen and foreshadowed a very great potential game.
