Very nice idea for a puzzle game. Graphics and sound are clearly limited, yet gameplay is king here and the experience is really addictive.

There's absolutely fun to be had here, and the more you delve into it, the more potential strategies you'll discover.

Luck be a Landlord makes slot machines, well, fun. It takes a pinch of strategy crossed with a bit of luck as you work your way through run after run to defeat your greedy landlord. There's a huge number of cute icons to discover, excellent music, and a simple retro aesthetic, It all adds to an addictive game without the gambling side effects.

It may be a unique game and strategising can be fun but the randomness of Luck be a Landlord makes it more mindless than it could be. 🎰

Admittedly, I have not yet been able to complete a game of Luck be a Landlord. I haven't come up with a solid strategy yet, but I'm getting further and further each time. Even if you don't make it, it's a lot of fun to play. The only downside, unlike a game of the style like Balatro, is that luck is a very important factor when playing. Recommended to give it a chance, as it is deceptively deep and addictive in its gameplay.

Although "Mieter-Fortuna" does not have the same long-term motivation as "Balatro", it is perfectly sufficient for a quick kick in between. And since the rounds go by incredibly quickly, it can also be ideal for on the go. Play a quick round on the train or bus? Of course!

Luck be a Landlord is an enjoyable roguelite to play in waves and blasts but it’s not necessarily the best use of a PS5. More a natural fit for handheld devices, LBAL has a core loop you’ll find yourself keeping coming back to, even when the odds keep stacking against you and the RNG is never in your favor. With ways to customise the experience and a variety of symbols at your disposal, the game has bountiful possibilities, but you’ll feel like it’s stretched to its limits after a while and it no longer enchants so much as it feeds a short term fix.

Balatro, is absolutely not a worthy competitor for that title. The game simply falls short on every level. Graphically, Luck be a Landlord is even very mediocre to bad in my opinion and also in terms of challenge it is all a lot less. In itself, the gameplay is quite reasonable and addictive, but qualitatively it is all too mediocre. I could entertain myself for quite a few hours and the depth that you first have to try to achieve by penetrating the outer layer is extremely far-reaching. At first glance, the game seems to be very simplistic, but in the end it is not. Making the connections, the choices you make every spin and the way in which you fill the slot machine with icons requires quite a bit of explanation, which unfortunately is missing and that you therefore have to find out for yourself. If you have a lot of time and inclination for that, you will see that Luck be a Landlord is a potential hidden gem.
