Overall, Wildfrost is an incredibly well-designed gameplay experience that is sure to delight. Through its dynamic attack counter system, combined with features like charms, encounters, and randomised hero stats, the gameplay feels as dynamic and challenging on the twentieth run as it does on the very first one. Wildfrost is a charismatic and immersive deck-building adventure. The battles, which mix cards, turn handling and positioning, are exciting and full of interesting nuances. There is a good variety of cards, allies and powers, which makes it fun to explore tactical possibilities and build synergies. Chaos and unpredictability are constant in the runs, making the clashes intense and difficult, constantly forcing us to improvise. However, these are also the game's biggest flaws: it's common to end up in seemingly impossible or unfair situations. Also, the content is somewhat limited, however, future updates may alleviate these issues. With inventive combat and a captivating universe, Wildfrost is for those looking for a slightly different card roguelike, you just have to be prepared to face its challenges.

Wildfrost is an enthralling roguelike deckbuilder that’ll keep players hooked in with its satisfyingly strategic gameplay – just expect to suffer a lot of deaths when playing. Yep, the difficulty can be unpredictable (and a little harsh) at times, but at least it doesn’t stop the game from being a ton of fun to play. With a real sense of progress when building up your home hub and earning upgrades, plenty of different decks and cards to play with, and a rewarding gameplay loop that’ll have you constantly repeating the phrase ‘one more go’, there’s PLENTY for deckbuilding fans to enjoy in Wildfrost.

Small touches like these elevate Wildfrost into the upper tiers of the genre, even while its generally lighter range of content may steer potential buyers away. Once its best qualities come into view, though, that familiar roguelite deckbuilder addiction takes hold to reveal considerable potential, with dozens of encouraging RNG-fueled synergies, lucky accidents which breathe life into additional playthroughs. Wildfrost might seem a bit bare-bones, but each of its moving parts feels precision-engineered, making for an impressive entry into the genre for the studio and a great value for its asking price.
