Quite possibly the best action game ever made, Bayonetta 2 is a pure gem of wonder, filled with epic fights, perfect gameplay, a magnificent visual and sound environment and even a multiplayer mode which fits perfectly within the format. A diabolical masterpiece that no Wii U should go without.

Bayonetta 2 is one of the best games to ever grace the Wii U. The sequel feels tighter, less obnoxious, and is a blast to play through.

The Wii U holds with Bayonetta 2 its trump card: a queen of spades that cuts practically everything that has been proposed so far in the genre and touches us in the heart. Starting on the hats of wheel to never slow down, the trip proposed by PlatinumGames and Nintendo is the type to relive indefinitely to always have in the mouth this inimitable taste.

There were doubts about the handover from Kamiya to Hashimoto, but Bayonetta 2 takes them and fills with barrel after a few minutes of playing. This is definitely the best action of the current generation and overcoming it will be immensely difficult for anyone who comes next.

Bayonetta 2 is a great game on the Wii U that you'll enjoy for many hours, but Bayonetta's stylus controls, multiplayer options, and a number of quotes are disappointing.‎

Between that and the sublime feel of its combat, it's difficult to see even a passing interest in one of Bayonetta 2's passions not turning into a memorable experience.

Japan's Platinum Games has done it again, applying style and flourish to a control system of immense depth and assurance

Bayonetta 2 is mechanically perfect, yet it is also a game that is stuffed with personality and wit and charm and an abundance of ideas and imagery and symbolism that its poor story cannot hope to make sense of or contain. But that's okay -- it is the finest game Platinum have ever made, and the best thing to grace the Wii U thus far.

Filled with amazingly tuned combat, countless larger-than-life moments, copious amounts of legitimately challenging boss battles, interesting locations, lovable characters, and one of gaming's most unforgettable heroines, Bayonetta 2 retains the crown as the standard for which all other stylish action games should strive to achieve. And, if you missed the start of the series, you get the original Bayonetta bundled in for free—making this some of the best action gaming $60 will ever buy.

Bayonetta 2 is something new blended with something familiar, improved in every way possible. Few other games can top it for sheer audacity and ballsiness, and if this is the last time we'll ever see the leggy witch, then she's going out with one hell of a bang.

Overall, though, solid action and likeable characters make Bayonetta 2 a great followup to the original, which, by the way, is included for free with the game. It's definitely a title that harkens back to a time when lightning-quick Japanese action games such as Devil May Cry ruled the roost. If you prefer more deliberately paced action such as the 3D Super Mario Bros. platformers or even Tomb Raider, then the kinetic action of Bayonetta may be too fast and complicated for you. If you love more technical action that relies heavily on countering foes and view nonstop boss and mini-boss fights as mana from the heavens, however, well, Bayonetta 2 was definitely made with you in mind.

Platinum Games is the master of a dying art of Japanese action games, and Bayonetta 2 is a celebration of all it has achieved in its short life.

For once a long-awaited sequel is superior to the original game. Not content with being the best all-action blockbuster on Wii U, Bayonetta 2 is a high-water mark for the epic brawler as a genre, sitting right up there with Devil May Cry and God of War 2 in the pantheon of greats. It's so ultra-violent, innuendo-packed and sweary that it's hard to believe its running on Nintendo, but all credit to them and to the team at Platinum; the Wii U can boast another of the year's finest games.

Yes, there's some weak voice acting (Loki, we're looking at you), some pretty straightforward level design and a few too many gratuitous pieces of camera work. But mechanically, Bayonetta 2 steps into the original's heels and somehow looks even better in them. A near-perfect action game, then, and a irrefutable reason to own a Wii U.

Bayonetta 2 is a worthy sequel, filled with ridiculously over-the-top action sequences and a combat system par excellence. Just don't come for the story.

Bayonetta 2 erects some of the most solid fighting mechanics and phantasmagorically gonzo visuals in gaming to date—certainly, something as compulsive and massive as this boosts the Wii U to the front of the pack—and through its formal choices communicates a singular, unfiltered vision of sexualization.
