Critic Reviews for Farming Simulator 23

With its poor graphics and a lower amount of content than the previous chapter, Farming Simulator 23 raises more than one perplexity. Once you find the right rhythm, you will see some interesting ideas, but the impression is that, with a little more foresight, a more enjoyable simulation could be ob-tained without compromising its "pure and hard" soul.

There is fun to be had in Farming Simulator 23: Nintendo Switch Edition, but those who find it will need to be intimately familiar with the farming process. This version feels like a significant downgrade over the PC edition released in late 2021 and has some gameplay quirks that hinder the actual experience of running a farm. Unless you are desperate to take your farming on the go with the Switch, there are better entries in this series out there to play.

Farming Simulator 23 has many options for arable and farming to discover everywhere. It is a good simulation game, but it comes with a lot of technical compromises and it's way more similar to its Nintendo Switch predecessor than we hoped.

Farming Simulator 23 is a well-executed title for what it is, and it even offers touch screen support for handheld players. However, it's the type of game that's best appreciated when you're in the right mood. If and when that moment strikes, it can serve as a good, if somewhat repetitive way to unwind.

The handheld and mobile version of the Farming simulator does not have as rich and attractive content as Farming Simulator 22 on major platforms. But at least it can be carried in your pocket.

Farming Simulator 23 is not a game for newcomers. My time playing was largely filled with confusion, and the in-game tutorials and guides do very little to point a new player in the right direction. It may appeal to core fans of the franchise since it is at least a portable version of the game, but the scaled-back features are likely to be what those players care about the most, and anyway the price tag of $45 is frankly a joke compared to the $8 this same version of the game costs on Android and iOS. Perhaps I'm wrong and there's some X factor a hardcore Farming Simulator fan can tell I'm missing, but Farming Simulator 23 is a clear non-starter for newcomers that clearly lacks plenty of content that longtime fans have come to enjoy on more powerful hardware.

Overall, Farming Simulator 23 scratches the same sort of itch as previous games in the series, but it's maybe not as effective has the more substantial home releases. There's enough here for a player to initially sink their teeth into, particularly when the game's portable focus is considered, but that depth does disappear relatively quickly. Even so, there's still something deeply satisfying about its farming gameplay loop, and those after a relaxing experience will find one here.

The Nintendo Switch version of the Farming Simulator brings some of the new features of its "big brother“ like seasons or production chains on a lowered level. Beside that and some new comfort features, that simultaneously reduce your freedom, the game is a disappointment not just concerning its weak quality into graphics and performance. If you're a fan of the series, you might be able to overlook some of the issues, but impossibly all of them.
