After years of waiting for the revival of the Command & Conquer franchise, Tempest Rising has been developed, brilliantly reworked popular game mechanics, added new and original ideas, and laid the foundations for a new universe and brand. Aside from a few small things, this is a great game that will hopefully grow further.

Tempest Rising is a call-back to the wonder years of the RTS, but does more than enough to bring titles like that into the present day.

Tempest Rising offers RTS fans hours of nostalgic yet modernized gameplay centered around a unique energy source that sparks a global war; while the game lacks innovative mechanics and is limited to just two factions, its excellent music and engaging execution still make it an enjoyable experience.

Developer Slipgate Ironworks will need to improve this a bit in the future. Nevertheless, "Tempest Rising" is a very welcome comeback for the classic real-time strategy game and is therefore warmly recommended to any fan of "Command & Conquer."

Tempest Rising is the spiritual successor to old school Command & Conquer games that even the franchise itself couldn't recreate. It looks and sounds absolutely fantastic and, with two memorable story campaigns and deep and challenging strategy gameplay, it's the perfect example of what a modern RTS should look like.

Tempest Rising is exactly what it promised to be: a love letter to the real-time strategy games of the 1990s, and in particular to the Command & Conquer series. Everything, from gameplay to mission design, from the soundtrack to the units, takes us back to the glory of the Westwood Studios series. Of course, some elements can still be improved, and we are waiting for the third playable faction, but the premises for a series that can relaunch the genre are all there!

Tempest Rising might as well be one of the best strategy games of the year, where the release calendar does look to have a lot of strategy games on the horizon. This is definitely a game that’s worth a buy for anyone who wanted a Zero Hour 2 to be made by Electronic Arts for the Command and Conquer franchise. This is also worth a buy for casuals wanting to check out a new RTS game on their slightly new PC/laptop.

While Tempest Rising may not reinvent the genre, it provides a strong foundation that helps shape it for future iterations.

Tempest Rising is clearly inspired by the good old RTS days of the 90s and early 2000s, but it has so many unique features and high-quality additions that makes this game feel original and innovative.

This game is a great homage to the RTS of the 90s. Therefore, it is not a cheap copy or anything like that, having its own personality and, most importantly, the charm of an excellent strategy game.

Tempest Rising is definitely the heir to the vacant RTS throne left by Command & Conquer. While a bit more boldness would have been welcome, the game perfectly captures the nostalgic feeling.
