Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S barely justifies its existence. It is a re-release of a sequel already available on the console via backwards compatibility, with additions that border on superfluous or were poorly thought out, such as mouse controls. There was no attention paid to, at the very least, adding a Brazilian Portuguese localization, as with other recent titles from the producer. Considering that the title is also being sold separately and with no upgrade options for owners of the sequel on the original console, it is difficult to recommend this purchase.

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S confirms itself as a solid experience, capable of entertaining both Puyo Puyo and Tetris fans thanks to a wide variety of game modes. However, the new content of this re-release for Nintendo Switch 2 is too scarce to convince those who have already played any of the previous chapters, especially the second, to repurchase the title. The Adventure mode is neglectable, while additions such as the duo mode and the gameshare represent interesting but not revolutionary ideas. That said, if you are new to the series, this version is without a doubt the most complete currently available on the market, ready to give you many hours of pure fun.

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S is the definitive way to play this incredible puzzle mashup with all the updates and content. With such variety in control schemes, it might even be one of the most accessible games on the market to play right now, and with so many modes it more than justifies its asking price, especially by making great use of GameShare and GameChat. Unfortunately, without cross-play and without an upgrade path from Switch 1 to Switch 2, online is feeling a little bit empty right now which might hurt the game’s long term potential. A shame considering the modes and options available to players. And ultimately the new offerings don’t quite go far enough to double-dip if you already own this one on Switch. Still, a must if you’ve never owned or played this before and the perfect multiplayer alternative to Mario Kart World!
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S is, without a doubt, the best way to enjoy one of the most brilliant puzzle crossovers of recent years. Its technical improvements, the new Doubles mode, and Switch 2-exclusive features make it a very polished and fun remake. Don't expect any major revolutions, though: the foundation remains the same as in 2020, but when something works this well, there's no need to reinvent it.

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S is the perfect way to inject some classic puzzling into your Switch 2 library, especially if you missed the previous version.
Even after playing for several hours, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S isn't exactly an easy game to recommend. Don't get me wrong - it's definitely not a bad game, but rather, one that has a bit of an entry barrier for beginners, especially in its story mode. The extra modes that the Switch 2 version brings honestly don't add much to the game itself, and I think SEGA could definitely have released this as an Upgrade Pack, and maybe finally released the Switch 1 version on the Brazilian eShop. I wouldn't recommend it to newcomers, except if you find it at a sale, but I can see a Tetris or Puyo Puyo expert getting a kick out of it.
