Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S Reviews
More than most, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S is a tough release to put a score on. Under no circumstances is it a bad game - in fact, it's a pretty darn decent game that's filled to the brim with modes and features to tide puzzle lovers over for the long haul. However, that has everything to do with the solid skeleton of the original Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 and barely anything to do with the minimal additions made to this Switch 2 re-release.For newcomers to the series or those who missed its original release, there's plenty of fun to be had here. For fans who already have the original version on Switch, I struggle to think of a greater waste of Switch 2 gaming funds than this.
This Nintendo Switch 2 version of Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is as excellent as the original game and brings a few new features: support for mouse mode, which is useful in navigating menus but a little awkward in the actual game, GameShare, and an extremely chaotic and fun multiplayer mode. The offering is excellent and plentiful but not particularly appealing to those who have already played the original title.

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S remains a strong puzzler that successfully merges two iconic franchises into one cohesive, content-rich package. Mechanically tight and perfectly suited for portable play, it’s an easy recommendation for newcomers looking to dive into a vibrant and addictive puzzle experience. That said, the additions in this version are relatively minor, offering little incentive for returning players who already own the previous release. For fresh players though, it’s a delightful crossover worth your time.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S seems like the game version of redundancy. If you have the first sequel, there is simply no good reason to get this one. This could be the worst thing that's happened between Sega and Nintendo since the "Genesis Does What Nintendon't" commercials.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S is a colorful combination of two popular puzzle games with plenty to keep you busy. A robust story mode and chaotic multiplayer matches are very entertaining. If this was a new gane, it would receive higher marks. I'm glad it's on the Switch 2, but it's a shame there's no upgrade option for owners of the original Switch version.
I've spent several hours playing Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S and I just love it. Barring the unnecessary complexities of its Skill Battles and attempting to learn its nuances, the additional modes and Versus setup makes for satisfying, frenetic, and highly replayable puzzle gameplay. It's an excellent game to take on the road and play with friends.
A lack of an upgrade path for Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 players puts a downer on this otherwise feature packed puzzler
The expansion of multiplayer via GameShare is awesome. Stll, the value and cost of entry for this Switch 2 game is a barrier for entry. This is a great game let down by the harsh realities of a new console launch.
For the most part, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S is the same game as it was when it released back in 2020: a great deal of fun for fans of both Tetris and Puyo. But the addition of a new mode and the implementation of Switch 2's excellent GameShare functionality make this absolutely the best version yet.
Bear in mind that Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S is still a good game overall. The concept remains solid with an adventure mode that's endearing if you like silly stories and can overcome holes in the narrative logic. The modes really play around with the formulas of both games well, and the amount of content can keep a puzzle fan busy for quite some time. The lack of an upgrade path for existing owners and the marginal improvements for the Switch 2-exclusive version make it difficult to recommend a double-dip. If you never bought the game before and don't mind sticking with offline play, then you'll have a good time with this title and can give this a higher score. For everyone else, you can safely steer clear from this version.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S is certainly the best iteration of this puzzle combination yet and it's full of line-clearing and chain-triggering fun. 🧩
"Great game, modest update."

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S refines the puzzle experience with sharper visuals, a new game mode, and Switch 2-exclusive features. While it remains fun and accessible, it doesn’t add much for returning players. The lack of crossplay is especially disappointing and splits the community right from the start.
So, should you be picking up Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S? Definitely, whilst you might not want to pick it up at full price and wait for a sale. I can guarantee that wherever you pick it up from, you will have a lot of fun with this one. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S gets the Thumb Culture Silver Award.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S delivers exactly what it promises: a casual and fun experience with good replay value. It is a game that does not take itself too seriously, and it does not need to. Its value lies in providing quick and engaging matches. With more attention to localization and online matchmaking, it could become one of the essential titles of the new generation on the Switch. For now, it is a good choice for those who enjoy puzzles and appreciate local multiplayer.

Overall, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S is a lot of fun, and would be a great pickup for anyone into the old school puzzles games. That said, if you already own the original and aren’t completely sold by it, the addition of a 4 player mode and mouse controls isn’t going to change your mind.
uyo Puyo Tetris 2S is not a bad release, because it has a lot of upgrades and additions, just not enough in number or important enough to push its audience to make a total transition to the new generation.

If you’re new to the game, this is absolutely the one to get. But if you’ve been here before? It depends on how much that smoother performance means to you and whether you’ve got a co-op partner who’s just as ready to throw blocks with you for hours.
It’s hard to explain the joy that a good puzzle game brings, and I want to take this game outside with a projector and just play it on my garage door and see if anyone driving by my house wants to join.
A re-release for Switch 2 that is full of puzzling content, but adds little to the original game. If you've never played a Puy Puyo Tetris, this is an excellent game that will keep you entertained for many hours. If you already own the original, this Switch 2 release adds too little to warrant double dipping.
