Over the last few years, we’ve seen games of all genres and sizes, and kinds. Surprisingly, or perhaps not, we’ve also seen a couple of fishing games. Dave the Diver and Dredge come to mind easily. Appropriately enough, you can buy Cast n Chill in a bundle with Dredge right now. All three games are different, and yet, at the heart of them is the art of fishing – by yourself or in company, in silence, in touch with nature and the world around us. Cast n Chill can easily be seen as more than just a game, but rather an experience, especially if you’re stuck in an office during the summer and feel that special yearning for nature that cannot be fulfilled for a while. Cast n Chill can be a worthy substitute for the real thing.

Cast n Chill is a clear standout in the idle game genre. It checks all the boxes for a cosy game where you can live the fantasy of an expert angler with infinite time to enjoy the outdoors. The game’s pacing and structure are fine-tuned to make every upgrade matter but also allow you to set your rod down and only return to it when there’s a strike.

Hauling in a catch and drifting across the waves alongside a trusty pooch is a soothing and satisfying experience in games as much as it is in real life. Featuring laid-back gameplay combined with drop-dead gorgeous landscape pixel art, there are few indie games quite as lovingly crafted as Cast n Chill. This indie gem belongs in the Steam library of not only cozy gamers but anyone who understands the kind of relaxation only fishing can offer.
