Critic Reviews for INDUSTRIA 2

Industria 2 has a great premise and fun gameplay, but it's in dire need of better optimization.

The dystopian action returned in a sequel that we expected would learn from the original game's shortcomings. It didn't. But at least main protagonist Nora gets to finish her story.

INDUSTRIA 2 feels like a late alpha. It's seemingly playable from start to finish.

Industria 2 is the sequel we wouldn’t have wished for even in our worst nightmares. Its release was far too rushed.

INDUSTRIA 2 is a work deeply torn between the ambition of its developers and the harsh reality of a production process that has faced formidable obstacles. On the one hand, we are faced with an atmospheric experience of rare power, capable of transporting the player into a dystopian universe, while on the other hand, one cannot ignore the state of technical instability in which the title was released. Nora’s journey remains an experience worth having, but it is a journey that currently requires an excessive amount of patience, pending new patches that resolve these issues.

Industria 2 delivers good ideas, a strong atmosphere, and welcome gameplay additions, but its technical issues and inconsistent level design hold the experience back. Some moments successfully capture the magic of the first game, while others feel noticeably weaker in comparison.

There is still a spark of what made Industria intriguing in some of the settings and lore we can find, but the package as a whole just misses the mark for me. It is technically average at best, with slow, plodding, and uninteresting gunplay and a story that feels like a step backwards from the original in almost every regard.

INDUSTRIA II feels very much like the kind of horror movie sequel that gets rushed to market after the moderate success of its predecessor. The story is continued competently enough, but the gameplay feels abandoned halfway through development. Ideas that the original INDUSTRIA introduced — whether narratively or mechanically — are only superficially touched upon here, leaving them unable to make any meaningful impact in Industria II. And then there is the technical state of the game, which ultimately becomes the final nail in the coffin and pushes an otherwise merely dull experience firmly into frustrating territory. As things currently stand, I simply cannot recommend Industria II. Perhaps Bleakmill will manage to bring the game closer to a solid state through extensive updates, at which point it might become an easy recommendation for fans of the first title. I certainly hope so.
