Critic Reviews for Agefield High: Rock the School

Agefield High: Rock the School is a poorly executed title that set out to be a spiritual successor to a classic. Those looking for 2000s nostalgia surprisingly won't find it here, and fundamental issues plague the entire experience. In its current state, I cannot recommend it.

A technical disaster that rarely works, layered on top of a hollow game with very little substance, Agefield needed to spend many more semesters in development detention. I cannot recommend Agefield to anyone, even the most hardened Bully, American Pie, or 00s pop culture fans.

While I can typically forgive lack of production value for indies, its biggest issue is that it just isn’t interesting. It doesn’t try to do anything new, and ends up being a cheap knock-off that doesn’t bring anything unique to the formula via gameplay, story, or silliness. It’s a product that structurally feels like it should be in 2006, but is somehow still worse in many ways. The bugs and crashes were the final nail in the coffin for this frustrating throwback.

This is perhaps the saddest summary of Agefield High: Rock the School. There's a good idea here. There's even a game that, in some small moments, manages to be fun. But, in the version I played for this review, there's mainly the feeling of a work that reached the end of its development long before it was truly ready for a final evaluation.
