There is no denying that Twilight Princess HD, despite it's new HD moniker, is a dated game. Now whether those dated mechanics are a pro or a con is certainly subjective. Much of the gameplay mechanics we take for granted like waypoints are really nowhere to be found here. On the flipside, those who like the challenge of exploring the world themselves and discovering where to go next, will certainly love to return to this darker Hyrule to get lost in it all over again.

Personally, I found this remaster to have improved things just enough to cement me as a fan of Twilight Princess. The world is far more vibrant than before, and turning off motion controls removes almost all the frustration I experienced with the Wii version. I have an enduring affection for Twilight Princess' idiosyncrasies, creepy Malo Mart and all, and I'm glad we've had the chance to see the title refreshed for the HD generation.

The reason you'll purchase this game is because it's still a classic, even with its flaws.

I always remember Twilight Princess being my favourite Zelda game. Replaying the game in HD, I still feel the same way about it. No other Zelda game is yet to match the free-roaming world, the intense story or the magnificent dungeon design. Nothing beats taking Epona on a run through Hyrule Field, slashing at moblins on horseback. I expected more from the graphics upgrade after comparing Twilight Princess HD to 2013's Wind Waker HD, but this version of the game stands to prove that even ten years on, the game holds up well. I'd absolutely recommend picking this up for newcomers and veterans.

A HD make-over and Hero Mode make a great game even better.

Twilight Princess HD usually looks very good—at times, stunning—and thanks to the visual upgrades and streamlined gameplay, there's never been a better time for newcomers to digest its labyrinthine dungeons. On the other hand, for those who have experienced it already, it's little more than a tasty appetizer for the main course due out this holiday season. Its age is apparent in open-world areas and questionable pacing, but its clever puzzles and thick fan service are just as appealing now as ever.

Still a great Zelda game even if aspects of it haven't aged as well as others.

At times, the HD upgrade looks fantastic. At other times, the HD upgrade looks terrible. But underneath it all, the game is still Twilight Princess, and that means that it's a great game.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is an excellent addition to the Wii U library. We do acknowledge that it's a series entry that has its critics, with them often citing a lack of revolution from the Ocarina of Time template, in particular. Those that feel that way have little incentive to revisit it on Wii U, but this writer certainly feels that it stands on its own as an accomplished game - opinions, when it comes to a series as immersive and demanding as The Legend of Zelda, are everything.Beyond that, what we have here is an attractive remaster with some nice additions, encompassing improved controls, visuals and enjoyable extras for fans. It's a deep, involving 30+ hour adventure, which draws the player in with plenty of honesty and soul; we're certainly glad this one has come to light.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is a masterful update of an outstanding Wii and GameCube game. Those who've yet to experience this epic quest are in for a treat, while folks who've previously completed it can look forward to doing so again with updated visuals and improved mechanics like second screen support.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is an excellent Zelda that features compelling dungeons, an interesting cast of lead characters, and a fascinating world to explore. For those looking to play Twilight Princess for the first time, this is the best way to experience this splendid game. If you played the game back in 2006, the new content and upgrades are worth revisiting as you ready yourself for Zelda Wii U.

"The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" is like a golden ticket that takes fans of the original back home and newcomers to the equivalent of a historical landmark of gaming. Some of the visuals and gameplay elements don't quite make a successful transition to the present, showing some signs of wear and tear. The new features also might not be enough to bring back some series veterans. The base game, however, continues to be a treat and the story remains arguably the best in the series.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD has many valleys, like locked-away DLC and way too many dull moments, but its peaks, including great characters and clever dungeons, are worth exploring.

Twilight Princess HD is an impress remaster of one of the most divisive Zeldas. As with The Wind Waker HD, genuine new stuff is relatively minor, but Nintendo has been smart enough to fix some of the original's flaws. It's still an odd, slightly inconsistent Zelda where not everything works perfectly, but it's also huge, beautifully-designed, fascinating and immersive. By Zelda standards it falls short of being a masterpiece. By any other standards, it's still an amazing game.
