Chances are, if you're aware of Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty!, your mind has already been made up. The feel and art design of the original have been translated superbly to the new generation, and even as a diehard fan of Abe's Oddysee there's little to complain about. This is how remakes should be done.

Dodgy pricing aside, there's a lot to enjoy in this remake that is remarkably faithful to the original, while implementing new features that actively improve the experience. The game's as challenging as ever, but it's hard to resist trying to save every modoken from the clutches of the glukkons. Fingers crossed JAW are working on the second game already.

If you're a 2D puzzle adventure aficionado who doesn't already own Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty on one of the half dozen consoles that it's currently available for then it'll make for a worthy purchase but those who do have it will find little reason to get it again on Switch.

While the Switch has had some entries from the Oddworld series that have dabbled in a variety of styles of play, most of them at best only moderately successful, New n Tasty marks their return to the original…

Unlike previous versions, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee New'n'Tasty arrives on Switch with a few graphic stumbles, sacrificing some aspects from a visual point of view. For those who haven’t yet had the pleasure of taking part in this great escape in the role of the nice Abe this version remains a good edition albeit with some compromises that manages to entertain especially thanks to the possibility of using it portable.

For gamers returning to the Oddworld series, you will find all the things you know and remember fondly from previous games still intact. For those new players to the series the Nintendo Switch is as good a console as any to try out Oddworld on. Plus you have the added portability that the Switch brings with it. I’ve had a enjoyable and entertaining time revisiting Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty and being reunited with my old friend Abe. It has certainly given me something to chuckle over while playing through the game again, and a good chuckle is something we all need at the moment or at any time!

If you’ve been interested in taking this classic franchise for a spin, New ‘n’ Tasty seems to be the best way to do it. Just be prepared for some of that old-school clunkiness.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is a great adventure platformer that is now accessible on Switch. It’s definitely showing its age in terms of controls and design, but it still holds up all these years later. Nothing has changed in this release, so it might not be worth playing through again if you already have, but if you haven’t, this is the best time to join Abe and make your escape.

If you are not bothered by the gameplay which is not perfect as with let’s say a Mario release, then this is a game that not a single fan of platformers should miss.

All Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty! managed to do was frustrate me. However, it did make me appreciate the controls in Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee more. Honestly, if you’re new to the franchise, it might even be better to just skip ahead to Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath. At least those gameplay mechanics feel like something more from this era.

The developers at Just Add Water have been working on re-creating the PS1 classic Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, now repackaged as Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty. It retains much of its original charm.

All in all, in spite of its flaws, New 'N' Tasty is well worth a purchase. If you've never played Abe's Oddysee and have a PS4, go and buy this immediately. It's a chance to play one of the all-time classic platform games with up-to-date graphics, as well as keeping Abe's unique sense of humour and mischievous ways intact. It couldn't be clearer that the love and commitment to Abe at both of the teams at Oddworld Inhabitants and Just Add Water is huge, and this really is a remake that's worth picking up.

Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is what the original game always wanted to be: a truly cinematic platformer. It looks fantastic, sounds brilliant and is great fun to play, despite its occasionally clumsy controls.

Sadly absent on Nintendo's systems since Game Boy's Oddworld Adventures in 1998, Abe's heroics look slick as ever as he makes a welcome return in Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty. Porting niggles threaten to detract, but this sensational reboot deserves to be relived.
