Through the Woods Reviews
Through The Woods is a horror game that delivers some good scares, just not really in the way that was intended.
Through the Woods is a sad, haunting tale that manages to scare without being cheap or easy, and one of this year's best horror games.
Through the Woods might not be for everybody but if Norse mythology is something you are into, I would recommend you give it a try.
Folk tales of Through the Woods will scare you, but short and linear gameplay with invisible walls are its weak spots.

Part of me wishes Through The Woods stuck to being a “walking simulator” where you read about forsaken people, hopelesness and monsters while unraveling the troubled history of the main character in a beautiful-if-somewhat-samey setting with great atmosphere. Sadly, all that’s on offer is a debut title that fails to deliver on any of its promises.
Through the Woods is a game you get if you want easy gamerscore or trophies, as its heavy themes are not portrayed the best.
Through the Woods excels with its unique atmosphere and it feels like it has been created with passion. However, the survival stroll through the haunted island, lost in time and space, is intended for only for those horror fans that are willing to tolerate a significantly low budget and the resulting shortcomings.

Through the Woods is a terrific atmospheric adventure title held back from true greatness by some disappointing character work and voice acting. I quite enjoyed my journey through the unquestionably unique environments and I would like to think that I learned a few things about Norse mythology along the way. This game took a chance with its focus on combining an atmospheric horror game with Norse mythology and it paid off for the most part. The price point and lack of "in your face" scares may push away many consumers, but the style and gameplay scored some high marks for my personal gaming tastes. For their first offering, Antagonist shows off a ton of promise and I would love to see what they bring to the table in the future.
Through the Woods it really looks like a good title that manages to blend adventure features with a horror survival. History and narration are really interesting and are accompanied by a really good audio compartment that guarantees a truly remarkable gaming experience.

Through the Woods is a decent indie game built around Norse folklore/mythology that has been slightly integrated within the story of a mother and her estranged son. Throughout your journey to recover your child, you will encounter creatures which you must stealthily bypass and uncover things about yourself and the woods which may be a little uncomfortable for some people. The two main downsides to the game lie within its integration of the two stories and the length. With more time, we would have had more development on the characters and gave me a reason to care about them, with more integration then we could have seen how the random occurrences linked to the mother.
Through the Woods is a great couple hour adventure taking you through a desolate yet lovely island filled with sorrow.
Through the Woods nails creepy atmosphere and has an interesting story that draws on Norse mythology - something that gives it a unique feeling. However, sometimes finicky mechanics and some other rough edges dampen the experience and hold the game back from ever reaching its potential. That is a shame because Through the Woods presents several missed opportunities where the development team executed on some things very well, while other less effective aspects of the presentation hurt the experience as a whole.

An enjoyably unsettling horror tale, Through the Woods will leave it's mark on you long after it's conclusion. Featuring superb sound design and gorgeous visuals, the story of a mother looking for her son on an eerie island straight out of Norse folklore, is definitely a journey worth taking!
