Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - Episode 1: Tangled Up in Blue Reviews
There’s something innately fun about this brand of Guardians, and TellTale was right to capitalize on both the recent films and the comics lore. There’s a very deft story being told, and one that’s definitely got a few unexpected turns even after one episode. Side note, I also really appreciate the stellar soundtrack and that every episode title is another fantastic song title. The question is whether or not it can carry this momentum and give us as satisfying a conclusion as we received with the Batman series. If so, someone please give TellTale more comics to make games with.
An interesting prologue filled with action, jokes and our favourite team of former outlaws, but the "more of the same" feeling that the gameplay gives you is stronger than ever.

A new IP which offers some great laughs and a fresh coat of paint, but not a whole lot more.
Tangled Up In Blue is without a doubt one of the best Telltale Games episodes I have ever played.
I like Telltale games for the most part. I loved The Wolf Among Us and Tales From The Borderlands. Those were also games that I played years ago. As of now, the engine feels the same if not slowly getting worse. It could also be that I was more forgiving in the past when I was playing those games on older hardware. Now it is 2017, and I'm all out of patience. Guardians is hindered by its engine and will continue to be if Telltale does not change, which is a true shame.
For what it's worth, 'Tangled Up in Blue' does do a good job with its emotional beats, and it's going to be interesting to see where it leads.
Though it seems that the actual purpose of the Guardians is to take down Thanos, the story is actually linked with the Eternity Forge and so on. This episode serves the usual Telltale trick of getting the ball rolling, but it's not exciting enough on its own merit, rather a promise of things to come.
Overall, Guardians of The Galaxy: The Telltale Series Ep 1 “Tangled Up in Blue” is a decent first chapter for a Telltale game, but it feels lacking for a game centered around the Marvel universe.
Tangled Up in Blue is an excellent pilot that does a superb job in introducing each of the Guardians to new players, while remaining very faithful to their source material.
Just like any other Telltale game, Guardians of the Galaxy is a great adaption. It suffers from some minor technical and gameplay issues, but strong story, high replay value, and marvelous sound design and music easily overcome those shortcomings.

Tangled Up In Blue is one of the best episodes that Telltale has ever made. But the story isn't perfect yet and need a little extra work to be fantastic.

I believe that "Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: A Telltale's series" has the potential to become Telltale's triumph card, something that we've been waiting for almost a lot.Telltale has learned his lessons and fixed the past errors and now, it has returned with a heroic space tale with a quest, to achive it's audience's approval

A stuttered start to this new story. None of the characters feel quite right for some reason, and the story is filled with developments that are telegraphed or predictable. Worse yet, the decisions are lacking any sort of grey area and instead seem to just be fuelling breaking the Guardians up in a later episode… Telltale has got its hands on a great licence and this first episode does not do it justice. Here's hoping it improves in subsequent parts.
The first episode of Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy felt like it was phoned in. Though the trademark characters and world is there, it lacks the essence that put the series on the map. Here's hoping future episodes recapture the spirit that made the comics and movie so great.
For the first chapter in a new series, Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't make you want to keep going. Hopefully the story can pick up in the next chapters to let Guardians stand shoulder to shoulder with the other great Telltale games.
At the end of the day, Tangled Up in Blue is a completely unremarkable Telltale game. The most unique thing it does is to provide some verticality while exploring environments, thanks to Quill's rocket boots. There's potential for the series to turn into a fantastic, galaxy-hopping adventure with the Guardians; however, if this episode is what can be expected from the whole series, you're probably better off just watching the movies again.
Guardians of the Galaxy - The Telltale Series doesn't bring anything particularly new or very interesting when compared to other Telltale games, but it is able once again to competently adapt the universe in which it happens, with the spirit and jokes from the films without repeating the movie's plot. Being similar to a cartoon episode's style in its storytelling is fun for anyone who is a fan of the franchise.

In the end, Tangled Up in Blue shows me that not everything fits into the standard Telltale Formula. Mechanics found in other Telltale games feel out of place in this title and decisions carried very little weight to what we were doing. That said, it was still an enjoyable experience and built up enough intrigue to make me consider checking out the other episodes. If anything, this can quench your GotG thirst until the movie arrives.
Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy has smartly attempted to recreate the breezy feel and tone of Tales from the Borderlands in its first episode, and despite the strain of Telltale’s brand fatigue weighing heavily, they’ve basically manage to achieve this.
COMMENTS While Guardians of the Galaxy further proves that TellTale needs to overhaul their engine, the story and soundtrack make up for any technical issues thanks to the endless charm and genuine fun at the heart of the game.
