When I sat down to play Batman: The Enemy Within – Episode 1: The Enigma, I was glued to my seat until its thrilling conclusion. While lengthier than most Telltale episodes, the time still went by in a flash. In the end I was left on tenterhooks, shocked and eager to get stuck into the second part of the story.
Improving and expanding the universe established in the first season, The Enemy Within is a great start for the new Batman series, with a screenplay that explores every facet of the hero, delivering action, dialogue and drama in the right extent, refreshing for both Batman fans and those accompanying the Telltale games.

Episode 1: The Enigma is not what the first chapter of Batman: The Enemy Within should be. Similar to season one, the gameplay segments are subpar, and the small power that choices have over the course of the storyline ruin the replay value of it all. Sure, the story offers some interesting twists and turns that Bat-fans will definitely enjoy, but the World's Greatest Detective can certainly do better than this.
There's variety and a really good plot - this episode felt like a full story, but with an overarching subplot.
It's going to be an exciting season if The Enigma is anything to go off of. While some of the characters aren't as interesting, the story is going in a really exciting direction. Thanks to the reworked technical side, this is one of the most fluid and enticing Telltale titles to date. Hopefully, the rest of the season measures up as well as this episode has.
The second season of Telltale's Batman adventure starts with a solid episode. Great story telling, superb character development and exciting combat will keep players engaged for a few hours. However it's interesting to see how choices can affect future episodes and whether or not different players can create different jokers.

The Enigma is a strong start for This Batman: The Telltale Series The Enemy Within, and I definitely look forward to seeing what Telltale Games does with this new season. I liked the liberties they took with Batman's origin and how his extended family of rogues reacted to him, so after enjoying this new episode I'm sure Telltale Games is going to give us a good second season.
Most Batman fans will enjoy the first episode of Batman: The Enemy Within. However, waiting for the entire season to release first might be the best course of action at this point, if only to see what new material Telltale will bring to the table.
At first, I didn't think that I would get into this game but as I played it more, the story seemed to grab my attention and now I am interested in seeing what the next episode of The Enemy Within has in store.
Batman: The Enemy Within - Episode 1: The Enigma is easily the best episode of Telltale's Batman story so far. While Season One put the wheels in motion, The Riddler's return to Gotham invites "The Agency" into town to make its presence felt, while Lucius Fox, Alfred, and Bruce Wayne are still trying to fully come to terms with the events of the first season. The story is a lot tighter, and the animations are well-polished and cleaner, setting the expectation for what to expect throughout the second season.
In the end, Telltale has befittingly started off Season 2 with the enigmatic Riddler. It strays from the comics and what Batman really is, but that's their approach. They have explored the dual life of Gotham's Playboy thoroughly and have presented it in a great manner.
Episode 1 has emerged from the gate strong and has set a pace and tone for the rest of the series.
The Enigma offers plenty of teases for the season ahead while also improving upon the combat and presentation for Telltale's take on the powerless superhero.
Honestly feels like an epic Batman movie.

The Enigma provides both an extremely strong start to Batman: The Enemy Within and one of the best single episodes that Telltale has made in a long time.
By the time the first episode is over in The Enemy Within, you’re going to be left wondering just how far Telltale can push Bruce Wayne, and just how dark this series can get. It’s a fantastic example of Telltale at its best, and if you’re a fan of these games, you need to pick The Enemy Within up and get playing. If you’ve yet played the original Telltale Batman series, get it too. This one is made richer by playing its predecessor.
