Kirby: Battle Royale Reviews
Kirby: Battle Royale is clearly meant to offer another bit of multiplayer-centric fun for 3DS owners, but nothing about it feels like a full-fledged offering. The short Story Mode and the repetitive nature of the mini games available make for a game that you probably won't come back to after you've exhausted what it has to offer. It's good to see more Kirby on the handheld, but with Kirby: Star Allies on its way on the Nintendo Switch, it doesn't offer a can't-miss Kirby experience by any means.
An overall enjoyable and easy to get experience which combines features from beat 'em up and party game genres. Kirby Battle Royale is very fun to play together with some friends via its local multiplayer, but the lack of variety for the included mini-games makes the single player soon boring, while the Online mode surprisingly presents some major technical issues.

You can fight against others, but only in a Ranked Battle setting, which doesn't bring me the same joy. What doesn't help is that the game didn't ran smooth at all online. Kirby Battle Royale bums me out as an excellent multiplayer game that is buried under a poor direction.

Kirby Battle Royale has a great premise, but squanders almost all of its potential. There is simply too little content to justify its price point and everything can be completed in just a few hours. Online is lacking, as players are limited to only playing with strangers in ranked and can only play with friends if they do so locally. Despite being one of the only Kirby games without his famous inhale ability, Kirby Battle Royale kind of sucks.
While Kirby: Battle Royale is a great multiplayer game and has loads of features, its replayability diminishes quickly and is simply not worth the $40 price tag.
Taken on its own merits as a spinoff, Kirby Battle Royale is a pretty good game. I think kids especially will enjoy its colorful looks and gentler challenge, even more so if they have friends to enjoy it with for local multiplayer.
Fittingly, a game that is about getting cake is really more of a snack than a meal; you won't find a robust narrative in the Story Mode of Kirby Battle Royale. Like a pastry, the game is mostly empty calories and air. But it's still satisfying, even if it isn't filling, and makes for a happy addition to my 3DS library.
A well done new Kirby game with a lot of good ideas, but with a lack of content very important.
