Ea Sports UFC 3 is a pretty good mixed martial arts sim, deep and spectacular enough. The gameplay feels a little bit unbalanced, the Career has some unconvincing moments, and the multiplayer forces the Ultimate Team mode on the player. The game is intense and satisfying, but there's still room for improvement.

There is no doubt that UFC 3 is a well-made game apt for all fans of free fights, martial arts and those who follows these types of sport. The game has been successful in simulating a genuine UFC experience. However, UFC 3 is not a popular game for everyone and attracts its unique type of players. It also suffers from few issues; tutorial mode is extremely inefficient and it is difficult to perfectly land a combo or fighting moves during a combat. Clearly, UFC 3 is the best of EA Sports UFC series which outstandingly surpasses its previous titles. Yet, in order to become a standard one for all gamers, it needs some more enhancements.

Tactical martial arts simulation with an authentic atmosphere and great presentation, which has small weaknesses in balancing and ground combat.

EA went back to the gym with UFC 3 to work on many of the weaknesses that had the previous two games struggling to find their footing. A fantastic new striking system and a much-improved career mode lead the charge, but UFC 3 is still hamstrung by a cumbersome ground game, weird collision issues, and the straight-up terrible Ultimate Team Mode. It's still not a knockout, but Round 3 is UFC's best yet.

Even with simplified grappling and submission controls carried over from the last edition, EA Sports UFC 3 is probably the least pick-up-and-play game in the sports genre. It takes real dedication, and understanding of one's fighter, to draw out the game's virtues. But they can be found in the anticlimax of a career bout that ends in a fraction of the time spent training for it. For those who can take a staggering punch and remain focused on their game plan, EA Sports UFC 3 is as close as it comes to professional fighting, without the bruises and welts.

Besides dealing with computer-controlled submission attempts, I largely feel that EA Sports UFC 3 is the best playing mixed martial arts game to date. That's why it was so disappointing to find out that so few of the modes managed to capture my interest. Perhaps it's more of a statement on the current over-saturation of the UFC, but there's not a ton of appeal of going into the exhibition mode and seeing meaningless fights play out anymore. I need something more than that, and I don't feel like either Ultimate Team or the career mode provide it. It's in the weird position of being a game that I like playing, but one that I'm not drawn to at all. But hey, at least there's Snoop Dogg.

EA Sports UFC 3 is definitely fun to play and does an amazing job at recreating several aspects of competing in MMA's biggest organization. But despite the knockouts it delivers in some places, it's unforgiving submission system, uneven AI, and a few silly UI and gameplay choices means it's still susceptible to a few knocks itself.

The best entry in the UFC series, which provides hours of fun thanks to Career, party Knockout and Online modes – that is, if you can ignore infected by lootboxes Ultimate Team.

Mixed martial arts fighting game, similar to previous installments, but with some changes. However it is still difficult and only for big MMA fans.

Fortunately, UFC 3 has improved in many aspects. The new combat system is fully dynamic and also a bit hard to get used to, graphics are great looking and the new career mode is quite fun. However, fights get boring and repetitive very soon, submission's mechanism is annoying and the emphasis on microtransactions is another poor decision by EA Sports.

UFC 3 very well may be EA's best release in the series, but it's only by a small margin that they've improved on their previous effort.

When two outrageously detailed character models are slugging it out, EA Sports UFC 3 feels sublime. Incredible animations paired with a weighty physics system mean that you feel the thrills and spills of every bout. Unfortunately, the clunky ground game combat fails to hit the same highs, and the campaign – which is a novelty to begin with – loses its lustre after a few rounds. There's still a lot to like here and more than enough content to sink your fists into, but it still feels like there's a bit more refinement required before this series achieves G.O.A.T. status.

EA Sports UFC 3 is a fine attempt at recreating one of the most complicated sports on earth; a dynamic, exciting and often thuddingly violent fighting game that makes marked improvements to its striking game, but just like poor old Francis NGannou, still needs a lot of work on the ground.

After the disappointing UFC 2, this new entry is a significant and welcome step forward. It's not perfect, but in this form, the future's bright.

UFC 3 will offer a decent fun challenge for you to overcome and spend hours in different modes from online to offline modes, but unfortunately the way that they implemented microtransactions ruined the fun I was supposed to have in Ultimate Team Mode, there was a big room for improvement, but they didn't take their time to do so.

UFC 3's career mode is where you will spend the majority of your time first, however after beating this you have a choice you can either spend all of your money on ultimate team or you can play online or single-player. The ultimate team mode is so microtransactions heavy that it left a bad taste in my mouth.

In closing, I feel that EA SPORTS UFC 3 delivers a striking blow to the series. Despite falling short with the stale and clunky groundwork, some minor hit detection issues and the dreaded ‘Ultimate Team’ Micro transactions (which truthfully the career mode more than makes up for this) I feel that this is a standout game for anyone who likes the combat sport genre, however there is still major room for improvement.

UFC 3 has made many improvements to the previous version, both in appearance and performance, from models of wrestlers with the distinctive design and the festive atmosphere before each game and the large number of modes to play available either to play single player or multiplayer, but the game is not making any radical changes in some Gameplay elements such as ground clashes and explicit reliance on the procurement system in the Ultimate team mode.
