Omega Strike is a fun and enjoyable little 2D Metroidvania with some side-scrolling shooter sensibilities. It doesn't do anything particularly new or interesting – and its ‘unique' character-swapping concept was done a lot better by Broforce – but if you're looking for a modern tribute to Metal Slug that's fun and challenging in a very familiar way, then Omega Strike is likely to scratch that common itch. Just keep those expectations in check as this isn't the most original or exciting example the genre has to offer.

If you like the metroidvania genre, it is a release to be taken into account which failures are forgiven due to its low price.

Omega Strike isn't breaking any new ground, but who cares? Unlike some metroidvanias, it's engrossing, engaging, and never lets up. For those hungry for the adventures of Samus and Simon Belmont, Omega Strike will surely satisfy.

If you’re a fan of the Wolbyware’s previous work or are a fan of platformers I think Omega Strike is definitely worth a look-in however for this writer there’s not enough to keep bringing me back to the title.

In the end, developer Woblyware has created a casual and enjoyable Metroidvania game in Omega Strike. My only complaint was that it was over a bit too soon for my taste, but I guess that's a good sign of a great game. Fans of the genre should definitely play this one, since Doctor Omega needs to be stopped and you have a right to have a lot of fun!

It might sound like I'm being overly hard on Omega Strike but I did have a decent time with it.

Though reviews require I look at games with a critical eye, I truly did enjoy my time with Omega Strike. I could hardly put it down, and my biggest complaint was the lack of replay value. Considering that this was made by a one person team though, I have to cut it a little slack. For $12.99, you get a quality Metroidvania that is only really hampered by the lack of difficulty. While it would be nice if the game was a little cheaper, I can’t help but recommend Omega Strike. It’s fun, moderately challenging and full of character. If this is what one person can accomplish, I can’t wait to see the next game by Woblyware.

Omega Strike is a very interesting proposal, capable of conquering any lover of old-school action titles. With its traditional Metroidvania mechanics, its high doses of action and its cornerstone: constantly changing characters, Woblyware has been able to offer us a quite addictive experience that, without a doubt, will bring many memories to all those who have been enjoying action games for more than twenty years.

It doesn’t do much to shake things up or even offer a unique take on the formula, but Woblyware managed to provide what’s easily one of their best experiences to date, and it was one that I feel is worth a look if you liked any of their other titles or just want a new metroidvania to play.

If you’re looking for a decent run and gun experience with a hint of puzzling thrown in Omega Strike isn’t a bad option, just don’t expect many surprises along the way. It has no major flaws to speak of, is designed reasonably well, and puts up a bit of a challenge in spots, especially when save points get a bit spread out. There are definitely more ambitious titles already on the eShop but in a pinch this makes for some decent variety, especially if you are looking for something a bit old school.

"Action-packed adventure with three playable characters, but it doesn't really matter who do you play as."

While it is a decent Metroidvania wannabe, Omega Strike offers little else that can surprise.

There's a lot of a fun to be had with Omega Strike, as its gameplay, graphics and soundtrack are certainly great. Unfortunately, it suffers from plenty of poor design issues that hamper the game's real potential.
