Battle Princess Madelyn is what a classic throwback should be. It mixes the old and the new seamlessly together and is probably one of best quality indie titles I’ve played in a while. I put around 10 hours into this one and there were plenty of secrets left to discover. While I may have some complaints about the gameplay here, don’t take that as sign that Battle Princess Madelyn is a bad game. Games like this were never really my cup of tea, but I know there are those out there that love hardcore platforming challenges like this, and if you are one of those people go buy this game now. At $19.99 it’s a fantastic value, and you will love every minute of it!

Battle Princess Madelyn has a lot of potential, but it is perhaps a little too faithful to the past to really catch fire. Fans of the Ghosts ‘n Goblins series and those who love a real challenge will definitely want to jump into Madelyn’s adventure. After all, who doesn’t want a ghost dog by their side?

The visuals and audio are excellent and the gameplay is challenging and rewarding. If only it were easier to find your way around.

Battle Princess Madelyn is an entertaining action and platform game that perhaps you have tried too much with its story mode, but it shines in the arcade section with a title that becomes fun, challenging, replayable, and that transports us to the era of recreational

I had a lot of fun playing Battle Princess Madelyn, and if you want that retro feel of Ghouls and Ghosts without the mounting blood pressure, or at least not as a fast increase as Ghouls and Ghosts, definitely give Battle Princess Madelyn a shot.

Battle Princess Madelyn is an old game made today. It inherits all the virtues and all the flaws of its origin era. In addition it mixes styes which is tiring. It often shows why we wish to play old games, but when they come, we hate them.

Beautiful visually and pleasing on the ears, Battle Princess Madelyn could have been much more. Unfortunately, it is bogged down by poor design choices and mechanics that need a more modern touch.

I am a veteran in the world of video games, I met the Atari 2600 at an early age, but it was not love at first sight. Then in the mid-eighties a game captivated me and changed my life, I met Ghost and Goblins for NES.

One has to appreciate Causal Bit Games will that they tried to further develop the formula of the clear role model, which is of course Ghouls 'n Ghosts. It would have been better, however, to hand over the story mode only when it is free of it's faults and better designed. It's annoying that the difficulty of the game too often lies in finding the easiest and luckiest route through the dungeons with every new screen death, while the arcade mode seems to be much more polished. So Battle Princess Madelyn remains a likeable game which brings fun for a few hours due to the arcade mode. This and the charming character design can't fool you about the numerous annoyances, and so Madelyn finally awakens one thing above all else: The longing for Knight Arthur.

This is no child's game and it is absolutely challenging, but there is no satisfaction at the end of an easy road. All achievements are due when they are worked for. There are more and more 8 bit games coming out and I have to admit, as much as I thought that I did not want to play titles like these when they started becoming popular, I am glad I did.
