Control is an interesting title. It features some truly incredible gameplay, with visuals and audio to match; but disappoints in terms of providing an engrossing narrative. The puzzle like structure of the overarching story can be confusing and often lacks any real draw for gamers to continue pushing through the game's 20 hour campaign. At best, the draw to find out what is actually going on and to help Jesse's brother will keep players moving forward; at worst, there are a multitude of side quests and mini-bosses to invest in as players push toward the conclusion. Narrative aside, Control features superb level design that encourages exploration. The exploration coupled with the superb gameplay help mask the repetitive nature of the title, thus making the game genuinely fun to play. Jesse being a likeable protagonist, with her fourth-wall breaking moments of introspection, not to mention the often crazy and psychedelic level design, should keep players interested for some time to come.

Control offers exactly what it promised: a fascinating story and high doses of action. The ensemble goes beyond what Remedy Entertainment has established in its most recent works and the result is an ensemble with many lights and some shadows. A safe bet for science fiction lovers. It's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun, isn't that more than enough to give it a chance?

Control is a good title, fun if you want to experiment with the various combinations with Jesse's powers, but with a heavy supernatural thriller story crushed by long repetitive gameplay that never really shows muscles. The technical sector is quite good and Jesse floats in the air really marvelously, the repetitive settings, however, do not make you cry to the miracle, all things that make the new Remedy title more a missed opportunity rather than a title worthy of their name . If you don't pretend too much and are looking for a good action title, you will find what you need in Control and Jesse's skills.

While I do believe developers have mastered the third person action-adventure formula, Remedy thought outside the box here, and is something I can considerably respect. Control is a great experience for gamer’s who are looking for something new, exciting, fresh, unique, bold and risk taking. It will put everyone to the test, not only skillfully, but psychologically.

We have a fascinating and well-built game that will make a series of stages (both primary and secondary) memorable. The world that Remedy has created with Control is so ingenious that I'm already waiting for the game's expansions and hopefully a sequel to it. If you're ready for a complex, mysterious journey into the heart of a frightening skyscraper, don't miss Control.

Surprisingly fun combat and an incredible world makes Control a game that is hard to forget.

Control has bucketloads of what Remedy can do best; a characteristic world, an intriguing mystery building and a quirky story that’s not even meant to be fully understood.

One of the most clever games of the year, tragically muddied for its abysmal performance on base current-gen consoles.

What makes the Control’s mishaps so frustrating is the fact that the game is absolutely terrific.

All in all, Control is a real good third-person-shooter with fast combats, supernatural powers and an intense atmosphere. It feels oldschool in a good kind of way and reminds me of the early Resident-Evil-Series. Even if the gameplay is convincing, the technical presentation has some real problems, like a buggy map, a poor german synchronisation and a bad performance on Xbox One.

Control deserves its plaudits. A singular boss battle, offering a significant difficulty spike in an otherwise exemplary paced game, and a map that’s confusing at times are tiny blemishes on an otherwise astonishing game.

Control boasts a challenging, satisfying and fun combat. The Oldest House is a visually stunning piece of design that'll make you want to explore and find every bit of lore about its world and the intriguing story of Jesse and Dylan Faden. Despite not being free of flaws (especially performance wise on consoles), Remedy Games was able to build one of the best games of the year.

While it's certainly not instant classic status like Alan Wake was for me, it's close. The creepy environment, totally out there storyline, and fun combat give it a unique presence in a world of AAA games that love to repeat the same mechanics and story year after year.

There is a really easy way to describe Control: absolute craziness. But craziness, from which you'll be enjoying every minute. Although Control doesn't bring anything preciously new, with its fascinating gameplay, comfort fighting and moving system flavoured with perfectly made abilities and really remarkable gunplay, it managed to get far behind any classical shootgame. In combination with well-written story Control creates recipe on a great and original experience and chaos that you will love and won't forget long after the game is over.

Remedy are undoubtedly masters of their craft, and Control is another fantastic title to add to their repertoire of fine releases that focus on bold action and deep dives into the unknown. It kept me captivated from start to end with its mysterious yet rich narrative, its solid combat mechanics that blend together satisfying gunplay with fun telekinetic abilities, and its peculiar allure and sense that just about ANYTHING could be around the corner of The Oldest House’s mysterious hallways. Control’s weird yet wonderful approach may not be for everyone and some of the performance issues could be disappointing. Overall though, they are minor hitches in what is otherwise an amazing experience; Control is simply a must-own title for action fans or those who appreciate games that aren’t afraid to be a little different.

In an industry where new IP is getting harder and harder to come by, Control is a stark reminder that there are developers out there like Remedy who are willing to push the envelope to deliver new and exciting experiences.

Control has reached our consoles without making much noise but with a vocation for something big and head to my particular list of the best games of the year. Remedy has managed to reach that perfect balance between narrative and playability that had been looking for so long and that the players had been asking for so long. With this premise in mind, leave your mind blank, dare to cross the threshold of the Immemorial House and let yourself be dragged inside. You will not regret it.

Control is an amalgam of Remedy's recent work. A game that is not afraid to be weird and show all the personality that is contained in its design philosophy and world building. A title with such an entertaining gameplay flow that even though I've done and explored everything the story and enviroments have for me, I still find myself traversing the halls of the Oldest House facing the remnants of The Hiss and hoping to find some unexplored corners. Control is one of my favorites of the year as well as my favorite Remedy game, and I can't wait to see where Sam Lake and friends will take this property moving forward.
