Critic Reviews for Men of War: Assault Squad 2 - Cold War
Men of War: Assault Squad 2 – Cold War is a game that is sub-mod in quality and looks very much like an official asset flip. It’s the most disappointing mish-mash they could have possibly made. Maybe the game will improve as it gets patched, the September 6 patch did make it no longer possible to call in all the three waves at the start of the game. However, it also made a campaign mission ending crash the game, so I am not holding my breath.
Men of War: Assault Squad 2 - Cold War feels like a regression instead of an evolution for the franchise. Instead, it sloppy reuses elements from different games and mashing them together without fixing the parts that remained broken.
In a field that is already packed with options, the Cold War take seems like a nice attempt to carve out a lesser explored theatre, only to result in a nearly empty audience.
The worst game in Men of War series. Piece of garbage.

Cold War could’ve been a huge improvement to Assault Squad 2. Instead, it delivers a very bland dynamic campaign and very few unique units. It’s better stick to the original for now.

As a fan of the Cold War era, there’s little to love here. Men of War: Assault Squad 2 – Cold War just doesn’t do enough to warrant its own existence. It’s a game that’s rewarding in its own right, but frustrating for too many reasons to recommend. Men of War: Assault Squad 2 – Cold War is a disappointing effort that’s elevated by its core real-time strategy features that you don’t see in other RTS’. Among the crashes, lackluster presentation, and disappointing execution, there’s almost no reason to play this.
