Critic Reviews for Bug Academy

Bug Academy is a goofy game where you control four types of bugs in pursuit of wacky goals such as tossing cows, putting out fires, and much more. With a cartoony aesthetic and wonky controls, you're in for an insect filled treat. It doesn't last very long, but it's worth it.

While Bug Academy might not be what you should use when you're studying for your Entomology exam, it is still a blast to play. The asking price of $12.99 is well worth it. Bug Academy proved to me that bugs are more than just pests that wouldn't be any fun in a video game.

Bug Academy is one of those indie games that you can't forget about that easily. From it's unique ideas, beautiful graphics and smooth physics, to it's engaging and addictive gameplay, it's a very good title. The game is short, but when the length of the game is its only problem, it's always a good sign.

There is a good variety between levels and bugs that will keep you engaged until the – very short – end, but you'll be buzzing all about it once you're done.

When it comes to indies, Bug Academy is definitely one of the most surprising. With varied and fun gameplay, I highly recommend it.

This Kickstarter project hit Steam in January 2020, then swiftly made its way onto my favourite gaming device. I wasn’t even 10 minutes in and I was already in love with this quirky little adventure platformer. I was zooming about like a madwoman delivering fridges and demolishing castles, laughing like a loon the entire time and completely ignorant of my partner warily edging further away. It was a genuine pleasure to play, and I’m looking forward to introducing my best friend to it next time we’ve had a few drinks.
