Fairy Tail is a correct game with a very intuitive development that fans of the series will like much more for the good setting and details it has, but even they can choke certain moments in history by forcing them to complete repetitive secondary missions.

A very good JRPG, graphically simple but perfect for Fairy Tail's manga fans. Is not for "everyone" due to the link with the japanese visual nobel, but a very good game in terms of lenght and combat strategy.

Fans of the franchise that have been longing for a full scale game based on the property should be somewhat satisfied by Fairy Tail, although a lot of it is heavily inspired by Gust's flagship franchise.

Fairy Tail carries on going even when the storyline is done; there's plenty to upgrade in the guild, and a multitude of characters to rank up, unlocking new content and cutscenes. That, combined with an enjoyable battle system, makes Gust's latest a solid experience for anime fans.

It's apparent that a lot of work went into Fairy Tail to ensure that it's something fans would embrace.

As a fan of the anime and manga series, I found enjoyable immersion in Fairy Tail for the PS4 and recommend any fans to give it a chance. Other than this fan service, though, there is little to compel a player to continue in this game past the first few hours due to the repetitiveness of battles, missions, and story tropes.

Other than the aforementioned issues, I believe Fairy Tail is a JRPG title that's incredibly accurate to its source material, and while the game is more tailored to fans of the series, it still offers a level of enjoyment most anime-based games do not.

Fairy Tail is a decent RPG based on the famous anime and a game worth trying. Unfortunately, it could've been even better if not for its repetitive missions and limited areas.

FAIRY TAIL is a good experience as long as you are a fan of the anime series. It offers an interesting combat system and enough challenges to keeps those who are already in love with the anime engaged, but if you approach it as a typical RPG player you'll probably have a hard time finding a connection, as it is less deep and complicated than your average RPG game.

Overall, Fairy Tail is a fantastic and faithful representation of its source material, while also being a wholly competent game as well. Its characters are fun, its story is engaging (if not particularly well written), while the flashy and interesting battle system is fun. Repetition in Requests and some performance issues drag down the game, as do its insistence on fan-service elements. In the end though, if you’re a fan of Fairy Tail or just want a new turn-based RPG to play, you’ll get some enjoyment here.

This is a solid game no matter what. And I’m willing to bet that if you are a fan of Fairy Tail, you’re getting rewarded with a fun and solid RPG that keeps the spirit of the original and adds on more besides.

All in all, Fairy Tail is a fun experience, and while it is mainly designed for fans of the franchise, the game isn’t entirely unapproachable for new players.

As enjoyable as this game was for an outsider like me, there’s no denying Fairy Tail‘s true nature as a game aimed at its pre-installed fanbase. It’s the kind of game that you excitedly dive into because you’ve been a fan of the series for so long and want to experience its story like never before. Playing it with the mindset that it’s “just another JRPG” might leave you wanting more at the end of it all, but I know for a fact that, had I already been familiar with Fairy Tail, I would have eaten everything up faster than Natsu himself.

Personally, I enjoyed my time with Fairy Tail, but I would suggest players start on Normal and increase the difficulty when they feel comfortable, as a game like this really benefits from strategic decision-making in order to keep it interesting.

When it comes to anime games, FAIRY TAIL soars above most and delivers a mostly faithful tale of fun and friendship.

To summarise, I mostly enjoyed Fairy Tail however some of the issues were impossible to ignore and often took me out of the game. The best thing I can say is that it is a competent and at times exciting JRPG. I would recommend it to someone who loves the anime and wants to get into this genre. You might want to wait for a sale though as the game is quite expensive.

Fairy Tail is a good first video game entry if you’re already a fan of the series but it’s flaws hold it back from being a great one. I’d be keen to see what GUST Studios decide to do if given the opportunity of working on a follow up game. Fingers crossed things are taken back to the very beginning, opening the doors to the franchise for everyone and hopefully driving new audiences of people to check out this great series.

Fairy Tail is a well done adaption of the manga but mainly for lovers of the same. As a new player in the universe, the story of the game seems confusing and isn't coherent. And while the characters are depicted well, it's hard to get attached to them in any way. Also, gameplay is rather flat and slow - except for the battles which are a real delight! Fairy Tail is the first JRPG in which I actually enjoyed fighting more than the story. So overall, I recommend it but mainly for fans of the franchise.
