Doom is a cornerstone of the video game industry. It lives on not only via new installments, the latest of which is only two months old, but also because people still want to play the original all these years later. That's why, in 2025, the OG Doom is being re-released on the Super Nintendo.
Talented Doom fans have spent the past three decades proving the iconic id game can be played on just about anything, from a potato-powered calculator to a fridge door. However, all these years later, there's still nothing quite like playing an iconic game on its original hardware. If you happen to have a SNES handy, you'll soon be able to buy a new, definitive edition of Doom and play through it on a new Doom-themed SNES controller.

Doom's SNES revival comes courtesy of Limited Run Games, which has worked alongside Randy Linden who was responsible for porting the original Doom to the SNES in the 1990s, so the best man for the job. There's a standard edition for $99.99, or a collector's edition for $174.99, both of which include a Doom SNES cartridge, an instruction booklet, and a poster....
