Once upon a time, if you'd have said Halo would be on PlayStation systems, I'd have laughed right in your face and called you a fool. However, with Gears of War, Forza Horizon 5, Sea of Thieves, and many more classic Xbox titles now sitting in the PlayStation Store, along with official comments from Xbox higher ups about exclusives feeling "antiquated", it felt like only a matter of time until Master Chief would take the leap and join them.
And take the leap he did, as Xbox officially announced Halo: Campaign Evolved during this year's Halo World Championships, a complete remake of the first Halo game with a few bells and whistles attached. More importantly though, Halo: Campaign Evolved will be launching on PlayStation alongside Xbox, bringing the series to rival systems for the first and an end to its Xbox console exclusivity.
It's a major shift in the gaming landscape as we know it, and to make matters even more momentous, it has also been confirmed that the Halo series as a whole will no longer be exclusive to Xbox and PC. That's right, Halo is now a third-party franchise.
