Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Tease Suggests It's Closer Than Expected

The second installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake was released almost exactly two years ago, on February 29, 2024. Since then, there have only been whispers and quiet reassurances that the game's development is coming along.

Despite this, there's been no word of a release date and very little information about the game's development stage. Now, a new interview with Automaton Media has some potentially good news for Final Fantasy fans.

In the interview, FF 7 Remake series director Naoki Hamaguchi was as elusive as ever when discussing the game's actual details. He did, however, speak very positively about how development is going for the third—and final—part of the remake.

"Production of the third installment itself is progressing very smoothly," said Hamaguchi. He also added:

"On top of that, having the same staff continuously on the team ensures a clear chain of command and good communication, which directly contributes to development speed and quality."

Hamaguchi also addressed the team's controversial decision to continue using Unreal Engine 4. Many believed not switching to the more recent edition of the engine would mean the game wouldn't look or run as nicely on current-gen consoles and PCs.
