Capcom has reportedly entered "full production" on another remake of the first Resident Evil game, but according to reputable leaker Dusk Golem (who first broke that Leon Kennedy would return in Requiem), it will be a while before we get to play it.
"I'm aware that more recently full production on an RE:1 Remake has gone underway," he claimed in a thread speculating on why the Spencer Mansion was cut from Requiem. "RE:1 is just recently entering development, so it's likely anywhere from 4–7 years out from releasing, presuming it comes out at all since it's in early development and RE games get scrapped all the time."

It's a high bar to clear, to put it lightly. The first game was already remade in 2002 to critical acclaim, and is often regarded as one of the best remakes in the industry's history. That same remake was also remastered and ported to modern hardware in 2015, so Capcom's newest effort will have a lot to prove if it wants to become the definitive Resident Evil experience.
