After Missing Out On A Game Of The Year Nomination, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Failed To Pick Up A Single Win In Famitsu’s Awards

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's Game of the Year run has been unprecedented. It scooped the top prize at The Game Awards as part of a record-breaking haul, The Golden Joystick Awards, the Game Developers Choice Awards, and, maybe most impressively, TheGamer's 2026 end-of-year awards, and the BAFTA's are still to come.

The run has been so impressive that Clair Obscur has now won more Game of the Year awards than any other title, eclipsing Elden Ring's 435.

But while the game has picked up countless awards in the West, it hasn't done quite as well in Japan. Two weeks ago, Japan's premier gaming outlet, Famitsu, revealed its Game of the Year nominations, with Clair Obscur notably absent from the top prize. Now that same outlet has revealed its list of winners, and Clair Obscur has failed to win a single award.

Prior to its official awards, Famitsu polled 191 Japanese developers and celebrities to see what their favorite games were in its yearly "Super Popular Game Of The Year" awards.
