The Elder Scrolls 6 is never coming out, or at least it very much feels that way. Our last mainline game was Skyrim, which released back in 2011, and the reveal trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 was a whopping seven years ago. It's very possible that we could go two decades without a new game in The Elder Scrolls series, and based on what Todd Howard's been saying about the game recently, I'm more inclined to believe that than ever right now.
Earlier today, Bethesda gave us a deep dive into the new Starfield expansion that's coming next month, alongside the game's now-confirmed PS5 port. Bethesda's Todd Howard was then interviewed about the expansion, during which IGN had a cheeky attempt at trying to get some information from Howard about exactly when we can expect The Elder Scrolls 6, and why the reveal was so long ago.
His response: "Just pretend we didn't announce it. Doesn't exist."
When IGN probes a little bit further later on in the interview, asking where the game is currently at in development, he doubles down on that comment by saying "Nothing" and "I've never heard of it." Either Todd Howard is...
