Crimson Desert is one of the most hotly anticipated games of the last few years. Since its announcement in 2019, and subsequent bonkers trailers, which have included dragons, mechs, and a jetpack, the game has been at the top of a lot of people's lists.
That may be about to change, though. Reviews for Crimson Desert have just dropped, and it seems they agree somewhat with my preview from earlier this month, with the game scoring a 77 on Metacritic and an 81 on OpenCritic. Here is a round-up of what reviewers from across the gaming space had to say.
We'll start with our own Harry Alston's review, in which he scored the game a 4/5 (and posted an hour early because of daylight savings starting in the US, but not the UK (sorry, Pearl Abyss). He felt that, while the "combat, exploration, and sense of progression are all top-notch," many of the game's more "frustrating elements are impossible to ignore, and are in dire need of refinement." He adds, "It's highly ambitious and one of the most intriguing triple-A games I've played in years, but I just wish so many parts of the whole weren't inherently flawed."...
