We've all done it in every game that allows it. You're probably lying if you haven't done it. Reloading even when you're missing a single round from your mag is a habit every gamer has picked up, right from the earliest shooter. It's something we do unconsciously, because most games give us an unlimited, almost magical reserve of rounds. However, you'll no longer be able to do this in Counter-Strike 2.
In last night's update, Valve dramatically changed how reloading works, shifting from the usual shooter formula to a more realistic approach, seen in survival games and the likes of Helldivers 2. Considering how long fans have been used to things, it's going to take a while to get used to.
"When you reload in CS2, the leftover ammo in your magazine is dumped back into an essentially endless reserve supply," says a blog post by Valve. "And so the decision to reload has never offered significant trade-offs—in a safe position with enough time, you might reload after firing a single bullet, or half a mag, or after firing down to empty, and the rest of the round would be unaffected."
Up until yesterday, reloading wasn't something...
