Ubisoft Lays Off 105 Workers From The Historic Studio Behind The First Tom Clancy Games

Multiple sources are reporting that yet another Ubisoft studio is being hit with layoffs. This time, Red Storm Entertainment is in the firing line, as Ubisoft is said to be ending all game development work at the studio.

Sources speaking to VGC and GamesIndustry.biz state that 105 workers will lose their jobs, as Red Storm will now be a support studio, rather than make anything itself. This is despite Red Storm's long history in the industry, responsible for the first wave of Tom Clancy games.

If this figure is accurate, then Red Storm has lost the majority of its workforce. As per GamesIndustry.biz, this would account for roughly 85 percent of staff, leaving just 25 percent for support work.

That support work won't actually involve any game dev projects, according to the reports. Instead, the remaining staff will contribute to the Snowdrop engine, as well as provide IT and customer support.

It comes after the last two games that Red Storm was working on were cancelled. A Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell VR game was scrapped in 2022, and the free-to-play Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland was canned in 2024. With the recent restructuring across Ubisoft, many other games were cancelled...
