It's no secret that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has failed to attract the same level of players that its predecessor, Black Ops 6, was able to achieve, leading to Call of Duty to announce some rather sweeping changes to its overall release philosophy, including eliminating releasing same franchise titles in back-to-back years.

However, could anyone have predicted that Modern Warfare, the 2019 reboot of the game that helped transform Call of Duty into the franchise that it is today, would be taking Black Ops 7's lunch money on Steam?

Wildlight Entertainment has confirmed that Highguard will being offline next week.

Well, no. But that's exactly what's happening right now.

As first spotted on Reddit, Modern Warfare (2019) peaked at 53,410 players over the last 24 hours, setting its all-time peak in the process. Right now, roughly 18,446 players are engaged with the game.

Compare that with the 45,157 players that Black Ops 7 peaked with in the last 24 hours, and suddenly a game that is much, much older than Black Ops 7 is more popular.
