Crimson Desert May Be Divisive, But Everyone Agrees That Kliff Is An Awful Protagonist

Opinions on Crimson Desert are all over the place, but it seems like nearly everyone agrees that Kliff is an unbelievably dull protagonist that might as well be a silent self-insert.

Before Crimson Desert even launched, its clear obsession with crafting a massive world with tons of different mechanics and features raised some worries about how focused its narrative would be. Now that the game is actually out, it's pretty clear (and even confirmed by an alleged developer) that the story was an afterthought compared to the world and gameplay.

Nowhere is this clearer than with Crimson Desert's protagonist, Kliff, whose interesting traits end with his strangely spelt name. Despite being the central figure in the game's story, Kliff doesn't have much character at all and might as well be a mute self-insert for how passive he is, which is an opinion that pretty much everyone seems to share.
