Ever ended a match in Overwatch and felt the urge to chat to the other team? Well, if you have, there is a decent chance it was to either yell at them or say something generally toxic. Now, Blizzard wants to encourage us to be civil, and its method is not what we expected.
In a new Director's Take blog post, game director Alec Dawson outlines what we can expect to see in Season 2 of the new and improved Overwatch. Here, he says that the devs will be trialling full lobby voice chat, exclusively at the end of a match. That means both teams will briefly be able to talk to each other properly, hopefully encouraging a bit more humanity and civility.
"There’s a bonus experimental addition coming to Season 2: you’ll have the choice to join a lobby voice chat—yes, with the opposing team—during the Play of the Game reveal," the blog post reads. "This will be entirely optional and we encourage everyone to remember that voice chat is monitored for safety."
