Kojima "Not Interested" In AI Despite Recently Appearing In AI-Generated Short Film

Fans recently criticised Hideo Kojima for appearing in Nicolas Winding Refn's AI-generated short film Satellites II, a film created in collaboration with Prada which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival.

The gaming community is one of the few groups desperately trying to stem the tide of enshittification and soulless art, and seeing one of the medium's auteurs engaging with the technology was very disappointing to many.

"Throughout our extended friendship, Hideo Kojima and I have shared the feeling that we were somehow split from the same consciousness, moving through different lives while orbiting the same obsessions. That idea became the spark for a film: a space odyssey following us as we traverse a sci-fi dreamscape," said Winding Refn on the film. "Created in collaboration with Prada, the project is both an artistic experiment and a playful exploration of new creative possibilities through AI technology."

Still, Kojima isn't necessarily a proponent of AI either, despite his participation in Refn's project. In an interview with the Washington Post, Kojima expressed scepticism about the technology's potential to create art.
