God of War Laufey director Ariel Lawrence has revealed that the game's already controversial cube companion Phranque has "always been a part of this story".
Although the Norse God of War games are generally considered to be incredible games and some of the best of the series, they were both hit (especially in Ragnarok's case) with one major complaint - the chatty sidekicks. Companions are a huge part of the game, but a lot of players really didn't gel with constantly being told what was going on in combat and how to complete puzzles.
With that in mind, it's no surprise that God of War Laufey's equally chatty new companion, a gelatinous cube named Phranque, has been getting a lot of mixed reactions since the game's reveal. It looks like the Phranque haters are going to have to get on board with him, though, as the game's director has confirmed how important he is to the game as a whole.
