More than two years after launch, Dragon's Dogma 2 is discontinuing the sale of many of its controversial microtransactions, as well as giving the digital version of the base game a permanent discount.
Back when it launched in early 2024, Dragon's Dogma 2 was praised as being a bold game that wasn't afraid to take risks, which anyone who let Dragonsplague ruin their world will no doubt agree with. You really had to figure things out for yourself in Dragon's Dogma 2, and it was one of the best things about it, as long as you didn't mind having to react to and deal with the world.
Of course, that approach was somewhat undermined by the fact that Capcom shoved a bunch of microtransactions into the game that let players skip some of its purposeful design choices by paying a little extra. Players really hated it and made that known, and it seems that Capcom is finally listening after all that time.
