There is going to be a Baldur's Gate 4, one day. Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast are already looking for a studio to make it. We now have confirmation of that as designers who worked on Baldur's Gate 2 have revealed they turned down the chance to return to the series for a new entry.
James Ohlen and Kevin Martens were designers on Baldur's Gate 2. 26 years later, the pair are still working together on Exodus at Archetype Entertainment. Archetype is owned by Hasbro, which is why, in the wake of Baldur's Gate 3's huge success and Larian's decision to leave the series behind, the toymaker turned to others under its umbrella with invaluable Baldur's Gate experience.
The trouble is, like Larian, Ohlen and Martens don't want to make a new Baldur's Gate game either. "The day [Hasbro] knew they weren't going to do it, [Hasbro CEO, Chris Cook] called me. 'Hey James, what do you think about doing Baldur's Gate 4?' And I was like, 'I don't, I would fail, and here's why I would fail,'" Ohlen told PC Gamer.
Ohlen believes he would be doomed to fail if put in charge of a Baldur's Gate...
