Euclidean was quite an enjoyable existential crisis. It achieved exactly what it intended to, which was to be a unique horror game that left an impression with players. It certainly was unique in every aspect, and left an impression of hopelessness that lasted for days. It manages to haunt players by having them question themselves and their existence rather than giving them nightmares about aliens and crazed serial killers.
he slow start to this game really almost made me give up on it. I am glad I waded through because the battle sequences are fun and challenging. Then the change in team keeps from getting complacent in the moves and abilities available. Some of the character interactions can be a bit odd, mostly in Ichiya’s section related to the female characters around him. But there are other more endearing and interesting interactions that make up for some of the oddities.
when I look back at my overall experience with Halcyon 6 Starbase Commader, I can’t help but nod at the enjoyment I had with the game. Its elements weren’t all original, particularly with the blatant X-Com base set up, but the game’s character helped set it apart. With enjoyable gameplay split between space and ground, battling your foes in Halcyon 6 is engrossing and loads of fun.
I walk away from One Night Stand the game the way one–sometimes–leaves a one night stand in real life. Part of me wants more, but I have no idea what that would even be. And, in the end, I’m just content with having had the experience.
It is a game molded around one gamer's deep respect and passion for video games of the past. Playing through Axiom Verge allows you to embrace that wave of nostalgia and make it your own. It never shies away from features of its predecessors, but carves out its own unique place in the Metroidvania genre.
From the prologue and tutorial levels of The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, you will see that this game was lovingly put together. You will also find that the mechanics of this game, while considered to be outdated, were carefully and creatively considered. This was a successfully crowd-funded Kickstarter game, and it shows. The team behind this game was right to courageously risk adventuring outside their personal castles to rescue the point-and-click game genre.
Woolly World bring back a lot of what fans loved from Yoshi's Story into the modern area. While the game isn't overwhelming, it is pretty good. With its unique boss fights, fun gameplay, and a wonderful aesthetic Woolly World is worth a pickup.
The spirit of Grow Home lies in its unforced exploration, leisurely collecting of items, and experiencing those "oh $H#@" moments as B.U.D. loses his grip or you miss your jump at 2000 meters in the air. There is added value to the game as you unlock skins with abilities and other items. After the end credits, you also have the choice of accepting an extra mission. All of these features add to Grow Home's appeal as a special game where it pays to be curious and daring, and you are properly rewarded if you are thorough.
The Blood Bowl franchise is an overlooked, yet interesting series. The fact that it warranted a sequel is great for fans and even better for newer players looking to join the blood-sport's pandemonium. The game may look daunting for these new comers as strategy, micromanaging and finding the perfect league won't come without practice.
In short, Trespasser is a must play for any fan of the series- as a close to the events of Inquisition it serves wonderfully, and felt like a satisfying way to say farewell to Inquisition's world.
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is really more of an experience than it is a game. There is replayability in going back to see if there are any clues you might have missed, but the game already does a decent job of making sure you see what you need to see.
Ice-Pick Lodge resurrected a great game with Pathologic Classic HD. The old-school text-based narrative works thoroughly in telling a rich, lore-heavy mystery involving an entire town, an unstoppable disease and three main characters. The atmosphere bleeds from the game, creating tense, unique moments throughout the adventure. New players may be initially burdened by the confusing story, dated graphics and voice acting and the extremely high learning curve, but Pathologic's challenge gives players a one-of-a-kind experience in an era where video game linearity is a constant theme. Pathologic Classic HD is a rough masterpiece and well worth any adventurer's endeavor.
Overall, Song of the Deep is an enjoyable way to spend some free time. The puzzles can get old quickly, but the gorgeous world and captivating plot will have you sinking in your seat for days on end.
Jotun: Valhalla Edition is a game well worth your time.
But it would be remiss to end on a negative for this review of a very, very special game. Wheels of Aurelia is a narrative triumph, with dialogue that has more to say than the vast majority of games would ever dare.
Tempest is a sure-handed, extensive and bold addition to an already remarkable game. Not content with simply adding a little garnish to the meal, Amplitude have re-written the menu.
Attack on Titan offers players an incredible amount of content. With numerous game modes, an intriguing story, unique gameplay, interesting characters, and a plethora of side quests/objectives, Attack on Titan is loaded with well over 70 hours of gameplay (and that's probably on the low end of estimates).
FarmerGnome's A Fistful of Gun is an arcade, shooter-adventure players can play, leave for a bit and then come back to later and enjoy the game as much as he or she did the very first time.
If you haven't played any of the series before and are curious, I suggest waiting for a new title to release than jumping into an older one.
Super Mutant Alien Assault is a game that is fun to play, looks and sounds good (if you’re into dubstep) and is constantly growing and changing as it is played, but just a bit rough on players very early on. A pretty good package for $9.99 on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One.
