Demon's Souls is in a very strange position: on the one hand, as the launch game of PlayStation 5, it has the task of emphasizing the generational passage as effectively as possible, transmitting a sense of wonder that accompanies the arrival of the new hardware; on the other hand, however, it cannot misrepresent the philosophy and playful approach that From Software had imprinted on the original title.

Sackboy is a party to which everyone is invited: a colorful and fun platformer, rich in content and with a level of difficulty suitable for a very young audience. It suffers from a rhythm that is not always well balanced, and from a dilation of content that does not allow the adventure to maintain a homogeneous quality standard for its entire duration. Without shining for originality, Sumo Digital's work still offers some decidedly remarkable stylistic flicks, with musical levels and a great deal of customization capable of soaring over the rest of the offer. Ultimately, Sackboy is an outspoken and genuine platformer, "tailor-made" for fans of the genre.

Anyone willing to turn a blind eye to some technical and silly edges will play one of those adventures that the Vikings would not hesitate to sing in the Norse courts. Odin's with Ubisoft.

6.7 / 10.0 - Bugsnax
Nov 9, 2020

Bugsnax is a fun and light adventure, suitable for a young audience but able to intrigue even the most grown players. It tells a story of friendship and courage, but also of acceptance of diversity and peaceful coexistence. Meanwhile, it leads us to discover the funny Bugsnax, chasing the same curiosity that is typical of monster collectors at Pokémon. The game mechanics are simple and long distance not too diverse (a couple of extra tools and traps would not have hurt), but thanks to an ever-present script and some surprise related to legendary Bugsnax, ten hours on snacktooth island are more than willingly spent. The price is modest, the production commitment well adapted to the team's ambitions. It won't have a particularly bright imagination or impactful graphics, but from the discovery of the Formikebabs to the fight with pizzafalena, Bugsnax always manages to snatch an honest smile.

7 / 10.0 - The Falconeer
Nov 7, 2020

It would be ungenerous to deny Tomas Sala's work good basic qualities, such as to ensure this peculiar "bird's eye" combat simulator a certain solidity at least on the technical-artistic front. What emerges after a few hours in the skies of the Ursee, however, is that The Falconeer is a product that shines more in aesthetics than in actual ability to involve the player within the wet world he chooses to tell.

Nothing new for those who have already worn the Spider-Man costume on PS4, but Insomniac always remains a guarantee of great quality.

8.2 / 10.0 - Astro's Playroom
Nov 6, 2020

Astro's Playroom is a tangible demonstration of dualsense's incredible potential, but also the sublime meeting point between playstation's past and future. It is difficult, if not impossible, to determine at the moment whether the admirable route traced by ASOBI Team in exploiting the features of the new PS5 controller will remain a little beaten path or the high road taken by most. In doubt, it is still worth abandoning yourself to a colorful party that will make you laugh, entertain, excite and gasp. A very first step in the new generation of those not to be underestimated, as well as the perfect showcase of gaming in sensory format that Sony would like us to live on PlayStation 5 (celebrating its origins from A to Z in the meantime).

Like a Dragon is the story of a carp that turns into a dragon, of a gang of scapegoats who decide to defy the established order and come to the head of a desperate situation. Ichiban Kasuga is an individual far from dojima's stoic and serious Dragon but has an equally kind soul and crackling personality, which makes him - along with his strange clique - the symbol of Yakuza's rebirth. A rebirth that passes through a fun and enjoyable but also improveable role-making formula. With this seventh chapter, in other words, the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has shown us the potential of what would seem to be his idea for the future of the series, which with the advent of next-gen consoles could give us great surprises.

7.6 / 10.0 - Watch Dogs: Legion
Oct 28, 2020

Ultimately, while perfectly able to offer players a good number of hours of fun, Watch Dogs Legion fails to fully realize the potential of its basic concept, yielding to the flattery of an open world model that, at the end of the console generation, loudly requires more innovation.

7.2 / 10.0 - Pumpkin Jack
Oct 23, 2020

Jack, the king of the Pumpkin field, will accompany us on an exquisitely old-fashioned adventure, modest in ambition and dignified in realization: if you do not expect the true heir of Medievil, nor a 3D platformer finished down to the smallest detail, the work of Nicolas Maysosonnier will entertain you enough with its lively style, its variety of situations and its lively artistic frame.

Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is a package with clear and eloquent perspectives. It is a generous reproposition, in which functional filings intersect in the management of playful mechanics and an important aesthetic modernization. The solidity of the transaction is crowned by important content additions, which extend an already powerful offer.

No one suspected they needed Tetris 99, yet we all know how it turned out. Just as no one probably felt the need for a competitive Super Mario Bros. for thirty-five users; but now it's on the eShop, free for all Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, and it's going to be really hard to do without it.

9.2 / 10.0 - Hades
Sep 24, 2020

Hades is, bluntly, a masterpiece: a phenomenal roguelike, packed with a class and inspiration, which once again consecrates (and perhaps more than ever...) the crystalline talent of Supergiant Games.

7 / 10.0 - Serious Sam 4
Sep 24, 2020

The new chapter of Serious Sam presents itself to the appointment with the public as the long-awaited return of a legendary saga, which for years has given admirers moments of pure war exaltation punctuated by action hero jokes. In this sense, the last chapter represents a welcome confirmation: if you have loved Sam's previous adventures, you can not help but also adore his last murderous outing, thanks to a full-bodied campaign dotted with crazy shootouts and memorable sequences.

6.7 / 10.0 - Crysis Remastered
Sep 23, 2020

Crysis Remastered is not a lazy and indolent re-edition, of those carried out only to make money and finance more important projects. This is evidenced by the commitment shown by Crytek in creating a completely new technique to bring, for the first time ever, ray tracing on the consoles of the current generation. Unfortunately, however, the result of these efforts fails to fully satisfy the senses of the players, and ends up highlighting other aspects of the technical sector much less exciting.

Although devoid of temporary power-ups and other mechanics of the genre, New Super Lucky's Tale is an honest and fun platformer, whose main flaws are represented by a longevity that runs out in 8-12 hours and a challenge rate calibrated downwards.

9 / 10.0 - Spelunky 2
Sep 19, 2020

Strong of a simple concept but at the same time extremely brilliant, Spelunky 2 therefore proves to be a splendid sequel that manages to improve what its predecessor did practically from every possible point of view. The care that regulates the procedural generation of the game world represents an almost inexhaustible source of stimuli and if we add to this game mechanics close to absolute perfection, the introduction of multiplayer and a technical component that, as evidenced by the new physics of fluids, shows obvious steps forward compared to the past, it is really difficult to find a single reason to advise against the purchase of Spelunky to any gamer.

Although the development of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim has encountered great difficulties, forcing the studio to postpone the PlayStation 4 version and cancel the PS Vita version, the Vanillaware team has still returned to the scene with an incomparable and intriguing title, which once again aims to shake up the terms of comparison of the two-dimensional video game, already largely redefined by their past works.

8.5 / 10.0 - Crusader Kings III

The stories that can be created or generated independently by Crusader Kings 3 are so varied and of such great quality, that Paradox's strategy could be called a masterpiece of emerging narrative.
