9 / 10.0 - Windjammers 2
Jan 20, 2022

Windjammers 2 is one of those proverbial cases of "history in the making": an instant classic that collects the heavy and prestigious legacy of the predecessor, even managing to relaunch on the gameplay side - that is, a topic on which the masterpiece based on NEOGEO hardware has had for decades to teach, as an authentic interactive game design manual that it is.

All Siege fans, including Outbreak fans, will immediately feel at home and will be able to enjoy a fun-intensive experience, especially playing in the company of friends, thanks to the presence in the package of a Buddy Pass. We can also not ignore the inclusion of Extraction since day one in the game pass catalog (PC, console and cloud), a not insignificant factor that will significantly expand the user base and facilitate the search for a game on all platforms thanks to cross-play.‎

The main strength of Nobody Saves the World is its never being trivial: it is not in the beautiful music, in the funny dialogues, in the simple plot, nor in the complex but satisfying system of Aspects, which gives the player the opportunity to mix skills and create new and devastating builds. In short, it is a game in full Drinkbox style, different from the splendid Guacamelee!, but from which it inherits an over-the-top style and an explosion of creativity found not only in the artistic component, but in every pixel.

5.5 / 10.0 - Labyrinth Legend
Jan 17, 2022

The conversion for Nintendo Switch of Labyrinth Legend does nothing but show the limits of a product designed for the mobile market. We are in fact faced with an action RPG hybridized with roguelike elements with little playful and narrative depth, whose progression becomes monotonous and repetitive already after the first stages of the game.

9 / 10.0 - God of War

The Phantom of Sparta makes its debut on PC with a port of remarkable workmanship, which inherits all the merits of the masterpiece of Santa Monica Studio and enhances them.

8.7 / 10.0 - Unsighted
Jan 12, 2022

Unsighted is a hard and pure metroidvania, cared for and fun in every aspect, able to satisfy both experienced players and those less accustomed to the genre.

A bit slow at the beginning and a bit repetitive in the long run, overall Grow: Song of the Evertree still offers a pleasant and relaxing experience, with its simple but effective playful loop, its ability to motivate the player without pressure or forcing and that sense of freedom and progression that transmits in a concretely satisfying way.

Artistically valuable and able to provide an intriguing additional perspective to the story of Far Cry 4, Control is a DLC that adds nothing or subtracts from the playful experience of the first content of the Season Pass.

Almost a year after the debut of Monster Hunter Rise on Switch, the expectation of fans on PC has been rewarded with a valuable port, which not only preserves the merits of the original version but enhances them with a good collection of technical improvements.

6.8 / 10.0 - The Alien Cube
Jan 5, 2022

If you're willing to turn a blind eye to poor-quality dubbing and some imperfections that involve both the gameplay and the technical sector, this game will guarantee you a handful of hours of fun in a world that any fan of H. P. Lovecraft would love madly.

All in all, however, while not revolutionary, the expansion allows Hearthstone players to end the year on a high note.

8 / 10.0 - No Longer Home
Dec 30, 2021

Net of a poor technical sector, especially on Switch, No Longer Home is one of the most touching experiences of the year. Independent to the core, Humble Grove's game tells the dramas of everyday life in what is a semi-autobiography of its two authors, stuck in one of the most confused and difficult moments of their post-adolescence. It is a very short work, which can be completed in a single session of just over two hours, but capable of touching deeply.

Alfred Hitchcock - Vertigo is certainly an ambitious title, but it falls victim to its own intentions. Translating the cinematic language of a seminal director like Hitchcock into a video game is a complicated intent, and the way Pendulo Studio chased him underscores an obvious confusion about the very nature of the adaptation. Vertigo is all form and little content, and qualifies as a narrative adventure a la TellTale with very little to say, especially because of the flatness of its story. A great pity, unfortunately.

Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth is certainly not a revolutionary or innovative video game, but it manages to achieve the goals it had set itself. It is a well-framed and decidedly successful title, which does not hide its obvious inspirations.

5.5 / 10.0 - Praey for the Gods
Dec 22, 2021

It is never pleasant to assign an insufficiency, even more so if at the debut of a tiny team that with so much passion faces the market for the first time. Unfortunately, however, Praey for the Gods ends up crushed under the weight of his own ambitions, victim of a fluctuating and problematic realization: even avoiding in any way the direct comparison with his illustrious points of reference, the action-adventure of No Matter Studios is difficult to recommend.

Under an aesthetic layer a little too essential and dated, Disney Magical World 2: Enchanted Edition preserves a simulation experience with unexpected qualities, sincerely delicious. A product whose target is very precise, mostly within the circle of school-age players, which hits its goals thanks to its relaxed way of doing, a good variety of the proposed tasks and an attractive use of some of the most appreciated Disney licenses of all time.

6.5 / 10.0 - Wukong
Dec 19, 2021

Wukong is a 3D platformer (too much?) simple in style and gameplay, inspired by classics like Crash Bandicoot but definitely more accessible. Net of the lack of a narrative structure that fully justifies what happens on the screen, the gaming experience is partly well built, and partly too restrained on the challenge front.

7 / 10.0 - The Gunk
Dec 16, 2021

Just like the thriving planet it stages, The Gunk is an action-adventure intimately marked by light and shadow. The idea of a measured and collected story is valuable, as well as both the artistic and technical inspiration and certain nuances of gameplay (above all the way in which you joyfully aspire to the dirt that suffocates the world). That is why it really becomes a wasted opportunity that with basic ingredients of good caliber, which in any case once again denote the talent of the Swedish team, the final result betrays the initial expectations.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All leaves discordant feelings once finished. It is a beat 'em up capable of entertaining thanks to its indignant rhythm, its hilarious fights and the genuine sympathy of the universe created by Goscinny and Uderzo that also works well in a videogame key.

6.3 / 10.0 - Aeterna Noctis
Dec 13, 2021

Aeterna Noctis is a product all in all enjoyable, but that wastes the potential in the useless attempt to chase Hollow Knight too closely. The good artistic direction, the excellent combat system and the well-conceived boss fights end up being suffocated by a linear and tedious progression, victim in turn of the desire to want to fill the game with content even when you do not feel any need.
