7.5 / 10.0 - MXGP 2021
Dec 3, 2021

For the 2021 season Milestone has worked mainly up to the point of improving an already quite satisfactory base, postponing the technical revolution for future chapters. It will not be the most explosive episode of the series, but MXGP 2021 remains definitely appreciable for its increasingly simulation-oriented soul. There are some flaws, such as an AI that is certainly not extraordinary and a graphic sector that can be improved, and there are very few substantial innovations: for veterans and motocross enthusiasts it is still an appointment undoubtedly recommended.

7 / 10.0 - Chorus
Dec 3, 2021

Chorus is a half-successful product. The guys at Deep Silver Fishlabs have actually shaped a galvanizing combat system and supported by gameplay mechanics that are well suited to the genre of space combat shooters, but the exploratory component almost completely devoid of indications and the poor readability of the action penalize the playful system. If on the one hand we are satisfied with the work done on the narrative front, there is still a long way that the Hamburg studio will have to travel to transform Chorus into the promised product. The redemption of Nara, in short, can not yet be said to be completely achieved.

The intriguing story told by Blooming of Forget-me-not and all the news introduced in the past months by the first four episodes of the "Ancient Apostles" series could therefore represent valid incentives to return to the world of Underworld and save it once again, waiting for the fate of the gang led by the Black Swordsman to be fulfilled in the second and final expansion provided by the Season Pass.

8.8 / 10.0 - Solar Ash
Dec 1, 2021

Solar Ash comes at the end of the games, with the Top 10 of 2021 already compiled and the nominations for the various year-end awards already awarded, and that's a shame. Because it is one of those endings with a bang in a complicated and fluctuating year, which has undoubtedly given us pearls, but which also feels on the rump the difficulties and challenges that the pandemic has added to the already difficult universe of game development.

Many years after the debut of the franchise, Big Brain Academy returns to the scene with an episode that has little new. Although delicious and fun, the exercises proposed by Challenge between minds are in fact twenty, fished out mostly from the titles published at the time on Wii and Nintendo DS.

Farming Simulator 22 represents the most complete embodiment of the spirit of the series signed by Giants Software. An uncompromising simulation experience, which makes its relaxed rhythms and the vast range of contents its proud distinctive element.

Evil Genius 2: World Domination is a worthy successor to that never forgotten first chapter.

There's not much to say about The Elder Scrolls: Deadlands other than that it's an expansion pretty in line with the previous ones, but a little less brilliant as far as the setting is concerned. Fargrave is the only truly fascinating place and alone carries the entire content on its shoulders.

Ruined King is an RPG with undoubted qualities. Thanks to the fundamental artistic contribution of Joe "Mad" Madureira, the work manages to capture the attention of both fans who live permanently in Runeterra and newbies who have never heard of League of Legends.

8 / 10.0 - Exo One
Nov 24, 2021

Exo One is an anomalous video game. A project that came to light after five years of work that mixes within it an excellent management of physics and a satisfactory movement system, and it does so with an intensity that is sometimes unexpected. Exo One is an acid trip in the icy sidereal void, an exploration of the (un)known universe that pushes you to look inside and confront the immensity of the cosmos, while sliding on the surface of strange and distant alien planets. A very powerful experience, completed in less than three hours but capable of etching itself in focus in the eyes and mind.

7.5 / 10.0 - Battlefield 2042
Nov 21, 2021

Battlefield 2042 immediately shows enormous potential, fueled by a playful set-up that hosts modes of great depth and really promising innovations. Unfortunately, DICE's latest work is also one of the most disorganized chapters of the series, as spectacular as it is littered with imbalances and lightness, which affect the choral rendering of an offer that still fails to give the best of itself.

Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl are one-of-a-kind remakes, which in the morbid attachment to the past find all their strengths and weaknesses.

The new version of the GTA Trilogy is still able to offer fans hours and hours of nostalgic "play", as long as they are able to overlook the obvious roughness within the offer.

9 / 10.0 - Inscryption
Nov 16, 2021

Inscryption is a damn fun card game: a roguelite, a puzzle game and a horror story, and all this is barely enough to describe what on balance are only the first hours of the experience.

There is also the regret dictated by the knowledge that this will be the last substantial free expansion and that the Happy Home Paradise DLC will be the only paid content of New Horizons. A real shame, given that such updates have demonstrated the enormous potential for renewal that the gameplay of Animal Crossing offers: a title that we would never want to abandon. However, remaining focused on the present, we can only promote the 2.0 update, which represents the best possible return to the island of our dreams.

Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One is a pleasant tale of origins and investigation, which continues frogwares' extremely intimate and introspective approach to the character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The game often stumbles upon the narrative errors of its predecessor, not sufficiently delving into some crucial ideas in the epilogue of the adventure.

Given the redundancy of the activities and the scarce variety of situations, Insanity will offer a good amount of hours of play only to those who will be moved by the desire to improve their records or to those players dedicated to completism. Everyone else will find themselves in front of a more compelling experience on the artistic side than on the strictly playful one. Anyone who has experienced Jason's epic in Far Cry 3, however, will certainly have an extra incentive to explore Vaas' insane mind.

Iron Harvest skips for now the old-gen consoles, still with a release date to be destined, but arrives on the next-gen ones with a Complete Edition undoubtedly rich from the content point of view, albeit with some smudges in purely technical and playful terms.

5.5 / 10.0 - Bloodshore

Ultimately, Bloodshore is a title capable of offering some jolts of nostalgia to fans of the old FMV productions, with a proposal that is however far from memorable.
